My Smart Roommates is an intellectual garage band, a late-night dorm session that continues to this day. My roommates at Princeton were impressive - everyone was Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, and got a Ph.D. (except me). Today they are the recent European Human Rights Commissioner; a biologist running a leading conservation non-profit; a Slavic literature professor focusing on consciousness and selfhood; an expert in classics, late antiquity and monasticism; and a political scientist specializing in the former SSRs - a Ph.D. dream team whose late night discussions are now a unique podcast. In each episode a Smart Roommate anchors a discussion within their expertise and leads a high-level, multi-disciplinary conversation. Many of us entered college with high-minded goals; My Smart Roommates are still at it. They've spent their careers following intellectual pursuits that began at Princeton.

Like grad school only better

The purpose of studying poetry, how to talk about climate change, human rights... like being in the liberal arts college or university but without the grades.

The title grabbed me...my smart roommates.

I started with the one about Jeff bezoz. I did my daily walk while listening and now I can’t wait to listen to all of the series. How wonderful to have such a smart group of friends.
