Over 20 years together, lots of movies, even more opinions
Ep. 25 The Haunting of Sarah Hardy
Do you miss the bad pizza your school cafeteria used to serve on Fridays in the 80’s? Are you confused by the constant pressure to choose from too many available viewing choices and just wish everything available to you was of limited choice and quality? Do you want to see a proto-Lifetime Movie Network movie? Do you yearn for the gothic equivalent of lite beer? Do you want a spooky 80’s movie that’s not a gore-filled slasher?
Well, then we’ve got a Laser Disc for you!
Ep 24: Friday the 13th
Listen up campers, we’re back from a late school year hiatus. In this episode we discuss watching the original Friday the 13th on Hell’s Official Format, CED Selectavision. The movie skips, the movie jumps, and we even lost the Kevin Bacon kill scene. However, we saw enough of the film to remind you of why it’s not the movie you think it is, but instead this bridge between mid-century hygiene films and 80’s slashers.
Ep 23 DOUBLE FEATURE! Even Cowgirls Get the Blues & Adventures in Babysitting
For this adventure in podcasting, we try our first ever double feature, pitting a Saturday night popcorn movie against a film directed by arthouse staple Gus Van Sant One movie turns out to be an example of female empowerment, and the other makes makes Matt as angry as he’s ever gotten on our show. You might be surprised which one he cannot help but swear about.
Episode 22: Clerks
Years ago we saw a Kevin Smith spoken word show, and he encouraged everyone to go out and start their own podcast. We’re still not sure if that was a good idea, but we figured it was time we revisited one of our favorite films from our college years.
Episode 21: Dead Poets Society
We try, and kinda fail, to record an episode in our car. Sorry about the sound quality, but we’ve been busy. Anyhow, if you wonder what it would be like to ride with us while we spread our hate for Dead Poets Society, here is your chance.
Episode 20: Metamorphosis (1990)
Yes, there are plenty of things called Metamorphosis, but this episode is about the film that tries so desperately to be a party-pack combo of The Fly, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Altered States, and maybe something about vampires. The 1990 film called Metamorphosis is the worst kind of bad movie, and honestly I’m shocked that we had 26 minutes worth of things to say about it.
We watched it so you didn’t have to. (Contains spoilers)
