Neurodivergence and Parenting Plans with Special Guest Carol Waldman of The Waldman Way

In this special podcast episode, San Diego divorce and child custody attorney and mediator, Brian A. Victor is joined by Carol Waldman, Founder and Director of the Waldman Way. They discuss what neurodivergence looks like in children and young adults. They further discuss that structure is critical for these individuals and why structure is mandatory when creating parenting plans in these situations. Attorney Victor explains how divorce and child custody issues can provide additional stress for families with neurodivergent children.

Attorney Victor also discusses the emotional issues parents deal with in relation to neurodivergent children. The conversation moves to how these concepts translate into real-world parenting plans for families with neurodivergent children and young adults. 

Attorney Brian A. Victor has experience both in the field of psychology as well as in divorce and child custody in San Diego. He worked at Family Court Services in San Diego for more than 11 years where he created and recommended to family court judges parenting plans for parents unable to reach agreement on a child custody plan. Attorney Victor is also a licensed Marriage Family Therapist in California. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Purdue Global Law School.

Carol Waldman is the parent of a neurodivergent son and Founder and Director of The Waldman Way, which provides resources for families with neurodivergent children and young adults. Carol has previously worked as a Field Representative in the California State Legislature. She is now channeling her policy expertise and advocacy experience into advancing legislation and programs that better support neurodivergent young adults as they transition out of school-based services and into independent adulthood.
