What are you responsible for at your job? To find out you'll have to talk with your team, your manager, and even your customers. But often we don't have those conversations, why? To do your best work you must understand not only what your role and responsibilities are, but what those are for your team too. In this episode of New Layer, Jasmine and Tanner discuss responsibility as it relates to expectations and the ever-expanding circle of responsibilities we each have when it comes to the work we do.

Mentioned in this episode: How to define roles and responsibilities, a playbook from Atlassian (https://www.atlassian.com/team-playbook/plays/roles-and-responsibilities).

    Types of Jobs

Looking for your first design job? Thinking of making the switch to a larger or smaller company? Moving from freelance to in-house? This is a gem of a podcast

Tanner and Jasmine have conversations that are accessible, thoughtful and enjoyable. It was like having coffee with your two favorite designers and unpacking topics a layer or two more deeply. Good stuff. Thank you!

Highly actionable advice, experienced voices

I have enjoyed this podcast and never miss an episode. What this series does well is provides designers of all experiences levels specific actionable advice they can take to develop their career and skills. Little or no interviews in this show, which IMO adds to much fluff and chatter. The format of each episode is strictly subject based. Some past topics included preparing for an interview loop, staying up on design tools, and what separates a junior from a senior designer. I appreciate that Tanner and Jasmine see the world differently and can share their strong perspectives that are hard earned. Our community can do a much better job of being Transparent. New layer helps us get their be demystifying many parts of the design process.
