In this episode, I'm joined by New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller, Uwem Akpan, as we discuss his book, New York: My Village. We discussed a number of topics, including: 

how to sustain your own culture in new cultural environments; 
the role of media in influencing and perpetuating hate and misunderstanding; 
ways that we can fill the gaps to building bridges of understanding in the diaspora; and
how the main character in his novel navigated the experience of being a minority among minorities in both the U.S. and his home country of Nigeria.
