Take Your Health Back Using Your Intuition & Sustainable Lifestyle - with Anisa Woodhall

In a world that is so “connected”, how did we become so disconnected from ourselves and nature? And how is something as seemingly simple as your choice in clothing, affecting the health of your unborn baby and their genetic makeup?

Meet Anisa Woodall, MS CN and a real-food, holistic Certified Nutritionist who helps women connect and listen to their intuitive voice to develop a healthy relationship with food and with themselves, so they can realign with their values of minimalism, health, and environmental respect and raise healthier children.

In today’s episode, we discuss how everything from your food and clothing choices prior to conception, can impact your unborn baby’s health, why we, as a society have become so disconnected from ourselves and the role nature plays, and why sustainability in our food and clothing is a much deeper conversation than just having less pollution.

Getting Back to Health with Nature and Your Own Mind & Body Connection

Getting Back to Health with Nature and Your Own Mind & Body Connection

Could connecting to nature and slowing down, be the key to finding better health and wellness?

Today’s guest thinks so. Meet Dr. Elizabeth Wade, a Naturopathic doctor who believes nature is our best teacher and that there is no one size fits all cure. Her approach to medicine is getting to the root cause with a medically based and naturally focused approach. She practices a trauma-informed and body-positive model of care.

Elizabeth’s journey to healing began in college, and included traveling to over 30 countries around the world working with US embassy’s to promote cultural awareness and appreciation. Elizabeth said she found radical health in Seville Spain, and now works with clients around the world in her thriving online practice online.

In this episode, we discuss the three pillars of health - physical, emotional, and mental - and how this hierarchy works in reverse to what most people think. While most people come to her for their physical ailments, it’s the mental and emotional issues that are at the root of healing.

Learned from her own discovery of finding health during her time in Spain, Elizabeth emphasizes the importance of community, stress and the environment in relation to health. She believes that the answers to our health lies within each of us and physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, genetic, environmental and social factors all contribute to health and disease.

Join us for this thought-provoking and informative episode to discover what it truly takes for our bodies to heal, and how starting on your own healing journey is simpler than you think.

Teaching Kids to be Mindful Consumers Through Curiosity & Love for the Planet

Teaching Kids to be Mindful Consumers Through Curiosity & Love for the Planet

Imagine taking your 5 kids, one dog, and entire life on the road with your husband, on a converted bus, for a full-time adventure of wild camping, boondocking, and visiting as many places across the country as you can.

Today you will meet Robin Schannepp @contendednomads, who has been on the road with her family for the last 4 years. During that time she has crossed the country 8 times, birthed two new babies, and all while homeschooling her children and turning her family’s life into a wonderful adventure. Today we’re going to see what it takes to pursue a life less ordinary, while raising a family based on sustainable values and minimalistic living.

With a strong love for people and the environment, she wanted to pursue a life that taught her children about sustainable living and being eco conscious. Her journey began with cloth diapers and transcended into creating a minimalist life on a converted school bus. Robin talks passionately about why she is so adamant about choosing well made clothing that is made by people who are well cared for and treated fairly.

In this interview, we talk about the conversation she had with her children about slavery - still seen in today’s world (even in the US) - in the form of people being taken advantage of and forced to work in terrible conditions “to make cheep crap”.

Her goal is to raise children who are mindful consumers and to instill in her kids a love for people and the planet, and teaching them how to “vote” with their dollars.

In the interview we also dive into her philosophy on school and the importance of cultivating children who know what it is to be human. She believes most children are raised consuming food, goods, entertainment, without much thought. Raising mindful children who are connected to nature and not forced into a school environment produces kids who love learning. We talk about her “chronically curious” grandparents and how travel can teach your children by connecting them to the natural world and their innate curious spirit.

This is a fun, inspiring and informative interview with a very special and unique person. To find out more about Robin, you can connect with her on Instagram @contendednomads and at her blog at www.contendednomads.com.

Raising Emotionally Balanced & Mindful Children with Meditation

Raising Emotionally Balanced & Mindful Children with Meditation

Can raising an emotionally balanced child of sound mind and greater awareness, help children better navigate through life?

Starting in her own family, Courtney Jolivette - a holistic herbalist, a birth Doula, and author of “Make Vegan Taste Good”, a collection of simple recipes for parents who don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen and want a healthier alternative - has done just that. Courtney taught her kids to practice meditation and yoga - with a recent Instagram video of her two year old meditating to a singing bowl - and now helps other moms do the same.

She is a mother of four beautiful children, ages 2 to 12, with a passion for living a peaceful, balanced, plant based, and holistic lifestyle.

From downsizing to live into a converted school bus with her 4 children, to buying less clothing, and living a minimalistic and holistic lifestyle, Courtney lives by her own advice she gives her children - to be exactly who you want to be. She believes happiness is knowing that you are living in your own truth not the expectations of others.

With a family of three growing boys and a two year old, Courtney credits her children, as some of her greatest teachers of life. She manages their different personalities by navigating through their emotions with different techniques, and using her own peaceful practices - such as meditation - to help them navigate through their troubles.

Courtney loves ethically made, sustainable brands, and supports black-owned businesses when she can.

This is an timely and inspiring conversation with a single mom, choosing to follow her calling to live a minimalistic, and balanced life, and teaching her children how to find their own independence, inner peace, and compassion and respect for nature and life itself. The Mindset Shift to Nurture Respect and Trust in Both Parents and Children

The Mindset Shift to Nurture Respect and Trust in Both Parents and Children

Managing motherhood from a wellness perspective and a place of trust and respect with yourself and your children, is what Kayla Lunde is all about. Today we talk about the underlying systemic condition, present in the world today, promotes stereotyping that is disempowering the young. We discuss how we can empower ourselves and our children to use their own inherent wisdom to become thriving adults.

Kayla holds a degree in child development and is an accredited instructor of Attachment Parenting International, a parenting program founded by Dr. Barry Sears in the 80’s, based on a philosophy that proposes methods aiming to promote parent/child relationships based on eight pillars: including parenting preparedness, building relationships with your child based on love and respect, touch, positive discipline, and balance in your personal and family life.

Using the knowledge she learned by becoming a certified and practicing instructor, Kayla wants to shift the parenting culture and shift the mindset from "childism" supression to respect.

This is an eye opening and informative conversation on shifting the parenting mindset and how we, as parents, can inspire a culture of compassion and respect in our future generations. Find the links in this episode and all of the show notes at www.nuiorganics.com.
