Ep. 113: Five Nights at Freddy's (2023) w/ Emily McClain
Are they being paid by the word?
This week, Matt and Cody are once again joined by playwright and educator Emily McClain to talk about more animatronic killers and sadly less Nicolas Cage. The gang discusses major differences between the game source material and how this version matches up against it's own copycats...or maybe cupcakes in this instance. Not to mention: influencers infringing upon Hollywood's dayplayers, what time period we think the film may be set in, the Blumhouse of it all, choreographed child dance sequences, the power of Matthew Lillard, and who the hell wants to go to Nebraska anyway.
Don't open that fridge and don't forget to lock the door...

Ep. 112: When Evil Lurks (2023)
Something's rotten!
This week, Cody and Matt visit one of 2023's most shocking horror films. They discuss expert world-building, the marvels of a well crafted mystery, and the top notch gore that goes into turning your child into a popcorn bucket. If that wasn't gruesome enough for you, they also discuss the ill-fated grandma, the foul smelling neighbor, and the broadway-bound musical!
Call the cleaner and hide the axes, something wicked this way... lurks.

Ep. 111: Dark Harvest (2023)
It's Bud Time!
This week, Matt and Cody hot-wire a car, a few in fact, in continuation of their look back at 2023, and just in time for this year's Harvest. The boys talk novel inspiration, 50's perspiration, and Misfits appropriation. They have a "Hay"day with the lure and a Field day with the acting choices. Not to mention: fuzzy cornfields, drunken parental units, lengthy hallways, what exactly some of those boys were really doing on Hype Night, and which graveyard you could find them hiding out in during the Run.
There may not be any stops on the black top road, but there's certainly a lot of laughs on the way down it.

Ep. 110: M3GAN (2022)
She's lean. She's mean. She's an incredibly entertaining machine.
This week, Cody and Matt begin their look back at 2023 with the little robot girl that could. The boys discuss Blumhouse's newfound aesthetic, the terror of technology, and the elements that make a slasher icon. Surprising absolutely nobody, they latch on to the seasoned character actress next door while finding any excuse to bust into song. It's a pretty run-of-the-mill routine at this point.
Make sure your devices are charged and your front bumper is free of debris because Night Howls is getting an upgrade!

Ep. 109: The Ritual (2017)
Take a hike!
This week, Matt and Cody board a VW's rusted out bottom and take the path of least resistance towards one of their mutual favorite cult classics of the 2010's. The boys talk comparisons to Adam Nevill's source material, the power of simplistic folk horror, and which character's fate they would likely endure. Not to mention: unexpected creature comforts, punching the elderly, who they would call out to on the pike, the trouble with pitching tents, building shelves, and meeting up with others in the first place at their age.
That's character tax...

Ep. 108: Lake Mungo (2008)
This show is really going down... under!
This week, Cody and Matt decide to take a dip into the world of mockumentary horror with this certified cult classic. The boys find out who actually is the ghost with the most when they discuss the eerie reality of Lake Mungo, the effectiveness of lo-fi scares, and the impact of not having a script. Don't worry, even with these massive themes of grief and family to chew over... they still find time to appreciate the hilarity of the name Bob Smeets.
Ditch those streamers! Toss those pesky DVDs! And settle in for some painfully grainy footage from a time gone by!
