Tough Love
Today we’re continuing in our study through the book of Romans, often referred to as “The gospel according to Grace” because it’s a book of inspiration and renewal. In studying this epistle we are set free from religion and ushered into the glorious joy of Christ through God’s marvelous grace.
In these opening chapters Paul is bringing this Gospel of grace to three different types of people. The secular person, living a life as though God doesn’t exist. The self-righteous person, one who rejects God and any type of religion. And the hypocritical person, one who has a form of Godliness but denies Him with their lifestyle. We can understand that each are guilty and in need of God’s grace! -
Suppressing The Truth
As we continue making our way through Romans we’re learning about the conditions for the Roman Christians. The cultural tones in the time-period this book was written magnify the beauty of grace God has given. It’s like watching a movie where the underdog gains strength to overcome! When someone in Rome became a Christian their families typically pushed off from them because they were labeled as enemies of the human race! This made it very difficult for them. Rome was an awesome place for the elite to live but the lower class had a daily struggle. Therefore, Paul will take some time to encourage the believers by acknowledging their fruitfulness. What’s his point? The Gospel of Grace produces a faith that is planted, deep rooted, and abundantly fruitful!
