Terrific instruction in an entertaining format

Great balance of instruction and entertainment. The charismatic hosts are old friends with a relaxed chemistry between them. The episodes vary between grammar, vocabulary, conversation, and occasionally some delightfully vulgar slang. Highly recommend!

The best intermediate/advanced Mexican Spanish podcast

TL;DR - my favorite Spanish language podcast of all time for intermediate to advanced learning (and I've listened to a TON of them over the last decade+ of my Spanish studies).

I've been listening to No Hay Tos for years now and it's a fantastic podcast. If you're a motivated intermediate learner looking for a great resource to help you progress, or an advanced speaker looking to round out your vocabulary with authentic Mexican slang (and some very helpful points on grammar to help your mastery of the language), then this is the podcast for you.

The hosts have been friends since adolescence, and their familiarity and natural cadence when speaking to one another really shows out when compared to the stuffy dialogues included with some other Spanish learning resources ("hola señor, ¿como esta usted? ¿Donde esta la biblioteca?" - none of that here). They cover modern, interesting topics, and special episodes where they focus on particular slang or grammatical points.

In addition, both hosts are experienced Spanish language teachers, and offer one-on-one tutoring via iTalki if you're looking for more personalized or in-depth instruction. They also have a Patreon page when you can get even more material to help you in mastering authentic "real" Mexican Spanish.

10/10 for No Hay Tos!

Incredible Spanish Resource

Definitely one of the best spanish resources I have come across in my journey to learn the language over the last year. If you are interested in comprehensible input - learning by listening, interested in the culture of Mexico, or just enjoy listening to two insightful and funny longtime friends who happen to be spanish teachers reflect about the world, then this is the podcast for you!

I love that they incorporate Mexican slang so that after listening a while you will feel like you can actually understand how people in Mexico really speak. They also split the episodes between free-flowing conversations reflecting on life and culture and discussions on grammar and vocabulary, the latter of which are still more informal and fun then many other offerings found elsewhere. Finally, they have a ton of great interviews with interesting guests, many of whom have their own spanish learning resources to offer, so that listening to this podcasts connects you to a broader network of tools.

I would recommend having a solid beginner-intermediate level of spanish understanding before taking on the podcast, but once you are there this podcast is all you need to bring your spanish to the next level and beyond. I would recommend DreamingSpanish (also featured on a few No Hay Tos episodes) as a great platform to begin learning spanish and reach a level where you can understand this podcast.

I just finished listening to all of the No Hay Tos episodes from the start and am considering going back and listening through a second time - one, because the podcast is just that good, and two, because I know I will get even more benefit now that my spanish has improved significantly after one listen-through. I can’t thank Héctor and Beto enough for providing an accessible and enjoyable gateway to Mexican culture and the spanish language. Learning a new language has been one of the most rewarding activities of my life.
