Episode 109 - Praise the Lord and Pass the Tylenol! - Reading Between the Lions Part 9

Episode 109 - Praise the Lord and Pass the Tylenol! - Reading Between the Lions Part 9

There are people who always want to know the future? Most people would like nothing more than to have a magic 8 ball to consult whenever they want to know what’s in store for them. This is why books on Revelation or other Biblical prophecy that make specific predictions usually become best sellers. Some of them even assign exact dates to events they say are going to take place.  But the imagery in apocalyptic literature is used to both conceal and reveal. And while the original audience would have understood all of the imagery, sometimes we can’t define some symbols definitively, and we need to be okay with that and just trust God.  We saw this in the differing views on the beasts from chapter 7. Sometimes, apocalyptic texts in Scripture are so complex, they can make our head hurt! Such is the case with Daniel 9. In fact, chapter 9 of the Book of Daniel has been called the most difficult and most debated chapter in the entire Old Testament.  So you may want to pop a couple of Tylenol before diving into this with us!

Episode 108 - Where's Animal Control When You Need Them?! - Reading Between the Lions Part 8

Episode 108 - Where's Animal Control When You Need Them?! - Reading Between the Lions Part 8

In this episode, we tackle chapter 8 of the book of Daniel and the need for animal control! Chapter 8 is one of the rare times where pretty much everyone agrees on the interpretation, and that's because the text tells us exactly who the symbols given represent. So much easier when it does that! So who is this ram with 2 long horns that comes out of the bush and this goat with the conspicuous horn that charges across the world to attack the ram? And what the heck does any of this have to do with us?!

Episode 107 - Things That Go Bump in the Night - Reading Between the Lions Part 7

Episode 107 - Things That Go Bump in the Night - Reading Between the Lions Part 7

We have all probably had dreams that were so disturbing that we have woken up suddenly with our hearts pounding and maybe even in a sweat.  We take a deep breath, relieved and thankful when we realize that it was just a dream.  It may take a while to get the disturbing images out of our mind, but eventually, our minds quiet and we go back to sleep.  Imagine one of those nights; only when you wake up, you realize that what you had was not a dream, but a vision given to you by God that was of things to come.
To say that would be disturbing is an understatement!  How would you respond?  Would you tell anyone?  Would you keep badgering God for more information?  Would you ask Him to stop showing you these things because they are upsetting?  Do you think you could handle the responsibility of presenting these visions to the people without injecting your own opinion or thoughts?

Join us as we continue in the Book of Daniel. What things that go bump in the night are intruding into Daniel's dreams?!

Episode 106 - A Corrupt Political Agenda - Reading Between the Lions Part 6

Episode 106 - A Corrupt Political Agenda - Reading Between the Lions Part 6

In this episode, we tackle another very familiar story in Scripture - Daniel in the Lion's Den. This story has been retold so many times and in so many "cutesy" ways that it has become more fairy tale than theology! But this is way more than a story of how God saved Daniel from getting eaten by lions.

Daniel chapter 6 shows us that politics matter. They mattered for Daniel and the rest of the Jews at that time, and they matter for us now.  Many Christian brothers and sisters all over the world face persecution and discrimination every day. For us in the United States, it is a very new concept. A year and a half ago we would never have believed that the government would recommend closing our church doors to flatten the curve of a virus spread. What happens if they decide they want to do that again, for as long as they want to. What if they require vaccine passports to go to church? What if they decide you always have to wear a mask and can never sing in church? We would never have believed that in Canada people would be arrested and churches would lose their property because of government laws telling them they could not meet. Are we prepared to meet the obstacles and persecution that may be coming our way?

Episode 105 - Going Down in a Blaze of Glory - Reading Between the Lions Part 5

Episode 105 - Going Down in a Blaze of Glory - Reading Between the Lions Part 5

We've titled this episode “Going Down in a Blaze of Glory” – a term used to describe a final action done in an extraordinary and impressive manner. King Belshazzar of Babylon tried to do just this when he threw a lavish banquet while the Persian - Mede empire was on his doorstep about to overthrow Babylon. But instead of going down in a blaze of glory, he pees his pants when he receives a dire message scrolled on the wall by a bodiless hand.
Daniel Chapter 5 shows us the emptiness and futility of life without God. It’s an important lesson for everyone. It is something every person needs to learn! Almost every day we wake up to at least one news story of someone famous, rich, or powerful who’s been humbled and brought down off of their lofty perch because of sin. But shame doesn't have to be the last word! Tune in to hear more!

Episode 104 - Pride Goeth Before the Fall - Reading Between the Lions Part 4

Episode 104 - Pride Goeth Before the Fall - Reading Between the Lions Part 4

Just when you think the Book of Daniel can’t get any more dramatic or incredible, along comes chapter 4! Usually, God accomplishes the extraordinary by using a series of ordinary events. However, in the book of Daniel, God does many extraordinary things outright! Event after event, God shows His might and sovereignty by doing things in a way that leaves absolutely no doubt it is the Hand of God controlling everything. In this episode, we see King Nebuchadnezzar have another dream. Unlike his first one, though, he will not only be alive to see it come to fruition, it will directly affect him in an incredible way!

Morning coffee break with my new friends ☕️

Y’all if you want to hang out with a couple sweet ladies who share the Biblically sound truth of the Word of God then Rose and Chris are your new friends.
I was led astray by false teachers for many years thinking they were Christians and thus I thought I was a Christian too. God pulled me out of that pit and through my new journey of relearning what actually is the TRUTH, God placed this podcast in my path a couple weeks ago.
I now spend every late morning having a glass of iced coffee with my new Christian friends of Proverbs 9:10 ministries listening to an episode...or two😉. They are a now a special part of my day. God Bless them for the work they are doing for His Kingdom! 🙌🏻

Radical Feminism

So good to hear the Biblical role of being a godly woman. Understanding women aren’t to be door mats but neither are we to demean men or the important role they have. Enjoy listening and being challenging.
