Noisextra is a weekly deep dive into the world of noise in all of its forms and features album spotlights and in depth conversations with those residing in the noise world. Hosted by Greh Holger, Tara Connelly and Mike Connelly, the podcast takes a historical look at the many tentacles of noise, industrial, and experimental sounds from their distant roots to everything in between and beyond, predominantly from the pre-millennium era.
Maschinenzimmer 412 (aka MZ.412) – Malfeitor
Darkness descends on the podcast as we discuss MZ.412 "Malfeitor." We are thrilled as Nordvargr himself lent his voice to this episode and gave us insight not only into this album, but the project as it was in the late 80s. Crowbar your way into the engine room and stare into the abyss.Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraAnd don't forget to check out the Death Squad - Collected Documentation book!Recent Listening:MZ.412 "Svartmyrkr"Brett Naucke "EMS Hallucinations"Perispirit "Spirutial Church Movement"Death Squad "Porcelain F**k Machine"Raison D’etre "Within the Depths of Silence and Phormations"
Lille Roger – For Life
Before there was Brighter Death Now there was Lille Roger, and we head back to 1985 to discuss his “For Life” cassette. It is a wonderful soundtrack to counteract the monotonous hopelessness of the mundane, as Tara attests to in this episode. Listen and raise the undead.

Fennesz – Endless Summer
June is calling so we thought it would be a great time to cover "Endless Summer" by Fennesz. It’s our first time highlighting a Mego album and this seminal disc is a fantastic marker of a particular branch of noise sounds. Melodic guitar swims under broken computer sounds and we are washed away in its waves. Note: apologies for some mic crackle and distortion on this episode.Check out the Fennesz Bandcamp for this and more!Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraIf you would like to advertise on Noisextra, email email@example.comRecent Listening:Anenzephalia "Kaltwelt"Anenzephalia "Magenta"Richard Ramirez "Kicking Stars that Left Desire"Black Leather Jesus "Video Boy Hustler"Vatican Shadow "Persian Pillars of the Gasoline Era"Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement "Flying Fish Ambience"Skin Crime/Crank SturgeonHecker "Sun Pandemonium"Joe Colley "Trance Tapes"Various Artists "New Forces"Evil Moisture "Lucio Full Cheese"Josh Peterson "Night Electronics"Jaakko Vanhala "Feral Earth"Gruntsplatter/ & Wilt "The Trough of Armageddon"
Anenzephalia – Ephemeral Dawn
A morbid industrial classic haunts new buildings in the bleak form of "Ephemeral Dawn" by Anenzephalia. We take a look at this slow and tense mid-90s document that gives the same necrotic chills today as it did then. Seed Mouth – Titanic
We travel back to a fateful night in 1912 with Seed Mouth’s astounding "Titanic" CD from 1996. An incredibly unique and special Japanese project, Seed Mouth brings something ineffable to the noise landscape. In addition, we discuss the Titanic disaster and how we see it relating to the expanse of this album.Check out Seed Mouth’s YouTube channelFollow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextraRecent Listening:Gruntsplatter "Dowsing in the Cancer Lands"Corvidae Cabal "Seeing Time"Hasufel "Shroud"S-Core "Gush"V/A "Kosmoloko"
IRM – Oedipus Dethroned
The story of Oedipus is reimagined by IRM on the "Oedipus Dethroned" CD on Cold Meat Industry from the turn of the century. This is a power electronics concept album that utilizes classical symbols and icons to create something beyond its parts. The stage is set and the mannequin is on the table ready for the surgeon.|Follow us on Instagram: @noisextraFollow us on Twitter: @noisextraaaSupport us on Patreon: patreon.com/noisextra

I’ve been a patreon subscriber since day one and the content just keeps getting better. Highly recommend this podcast for anyone who has even a passing interest in noise. I’ve discovered a handful of awesome artists and records I’d probably never have heard thanks to the NOISEXTRA gang. The enthusiasm and love for noise that Tara, Mike and Greh bring to each episode is infectious!
This is pretty much the only podcast that I listen to regularly. These folks have a scholarly knowledge of Noise, but they are still rabid fans and their unadulterated passion for the music and culture is infectious. As a long time Noise fan I’ve had plenty of friends fail to understand my love of the genre. I’ve suggested that some of them listen to the episode where Skin Crime are interviewed about the Music Should Hurt compilation with great success. There’s no better primer that I can think of.
