Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, Buddhist Master, on being a monk, fleeing Tibet, and the West: ‘I’m just a normal human being’

Have you ever wondered how one becomes a monk? What would it be like to live your life, traveling around the world to help others improve their minds and lives?
Our host Ela Crain seeks the answer from a Tibetan Buddhist Master, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche.
Ringu Tulku Rinpoche was born in Tibet. He is trained in all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. And since 1990, he has been traveling and teaching Buddhism and meditation all over the world. He also founded Bodhicharya, an international organization that preserves Buddhist teachings.
Also, for the first time in 25 years, Ringu Tulku Rinpoche talks about his personal journey chronologically and in great detail: fleeing Tibet, arriving in India, settling in Sikkim, his first visit to the West, and his ongoing role as a teacher and a monk.

How do you contribute to solving the world's most pressing social challenges?

Founders Pledge is a community of entrepreneurs tackling some of the biggest social and environmental problems we face.
In conversation with Ela Crain, David shares plenty of eye-opening insights about the world of charities: the best charitable causes to donate to, why he wouldn’t personally donate to cancer research, and what role billionaires play in philanthropy.
Also, as an entrepreneur, David shares his story and shares how his struggles led him to create an organization with 1700 members and $8.5m pledged to solve hardcore problems around the globe.

Brad Blanton, Radical Honesty founder, on the biggest source of lies, resisting your feelings and seeking approval: Is it good to be brutally honest?

Could being brutally honest with someone be more important than being nice to them? Can you imagine being honest at the cost of hurting a loved one?
If you are asking yourself what would be the point, this episode is for you.
Brad Blanton, psychotherapist and the founder of Radical Honesty Enterprises, answers Ela Crain’s questions about degrees of honesty. Brad has written eight books on honesty, the most famous one being Radical Honesty: How To Transform Your Life By Telling The Truth.
Brad uncovers the pitfalls of withholding the truth and explains why resisting your feelings makes them persist.
‘Trying to impress is not an easy trap to get out of. You generally think you’re doing okay as long as you’re making a good impression.’ But seeking approval often backfires in relationships, workspace, and therapy.
Join us to learn how to express your thoughts and emotions honestly so that you won’t fall victim to them.
