Examining the Cindy James Case with Women & Crime

The doctors join Dr. Sacks and Dr. Shlosberg, criminologists and hosts of Women & Crime and Direct Appeal, to examine the mysterious stalking and death of Cindy James. They discuss stalking behaviors, individuals who fake their own assaults and associated personality disorders, dissociative identity disorder, and their theory of a non-stranger perhaps being involved.

    61. The Night Stalker & Satanic Panic

    61. The Night Stalker & Satanic Panic

In the Summer of 1985, Los Angeles was held in the grip of terror. The Night Stalker, Richard Ramirez, struck without rhyme or reason and without any consistent victimology. No one was safe and everyone was scared. We discuss some lesser know facts of the case, while highlighting the victims' lives and exploring how the Satanic Panic of the 80's fueled the flames during an already hot, cruel summer.

*Dr. Shiloh accidentally referred to Glynn Martin's book as The Summer of Satan; the correct title is Satan's Summer in the City of Angels: The Social Impact of the Night Stalker and can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0997825189/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

GetVokl Live Stream w/ Hollyweird Paranormal: Lizzie Borden Lore & Ghosts

Dropping some surprise content for you as we take an end-of-the-year break!

In this Behind the Couch session from our Patreon feed, we teamed up with our fellow Angelenos & OG podcast friends, Tammie & Brice from Hollyweird Paranormal to revisit the Lizzie Borden lore. Although Dr. Scott really wanted to focus on the 1975 made-for-TV movie, The Legend of Lizzie Borden, we go deeper into her family's history to uncover two more acts of Familicide and Hollyweird Paranormal gives the details about spooky goings-on at the Borden house in Fall River, Mass.

Sally Pearl ,

Amazing! Outstanding!

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and this one is my new favorite. Fascinating conversations between clever, informed, and self-aware experts on the rabbit hole topics I love to obsess over.

PW from GR ,

Informative, human, good presentation

All podcasts ask for 5 star ratings. That’s like giving a standing ovation just because you liked the play. It’s supposed to be reserved for the best. But this one deserves it. You have two knowledgeable hosts who give educated and informative overviews of the psychology of cases and topics, without the silly asides other hosts seem to think listeners love. I enjoy these serious professionals who give listeners the respect we deserve.

Must listen...smart and informative

Heard Dr. Scott on another true crime podcast and as having done with so many went down the rabbit hole of episodes. Having education in psychology and social work it brings me such joy to listen and have those psychological questions answered that I often pose to myself while listening to other podcasts. Bravo Dr. Scott & Dr. Shiloh.
