Nurturing Growth Rather Than Dictating Actions - Antonio Marshall

Leadership LevelUp

In this episode of Leadership Level Up, Olivet Nazarene University Chaplain Antonio Marshall joins the show to discuss the transformative power of exceptional leadership in unlocking individuals' untapped potential.

Marshall's approach to leadership revolves around nurturing growth rather than simply dictating actions. He passionately believes in the profound impact leaders can have by helping individuals uncover hidden talents and abilities they never knew they possessed.

Drawing from his own life experiences, Marshall attributes his growth-centric leadership style to the mentors who shaped his journey. Growing up in rural Indiana, he recalls his father's work ethic, which instilled in him the virtues of hard work.

Moreover, Marshall shares the mentorship he received from Olivet Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ralph Hodge. By embracing the necessity of difficult conversations, Hodge played an instrumental role in Marshall's personal and professional growth. These challenging dialogues, while difficult in the moment, propelled Marshall to unleash his full potential, forming the cornerstone of his own leadership philosophy.

Listen to this episode of Leadership Level Up to learn Marshall’s leadership methods, and how he helps individuals see their full potential.

Antonio Marshall is currently the Chaplain at Olivet Nazarene University. After honing his skills as a basketball player at Olivet, Marshall's passion for the game led him to serve as a student assistant coach, eventually becoming a Graduate Assistant as he pursued another degree.

Marshall then embraced his calling to serve, as he became the Family Pastor at a church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 2016. Driven to serve the community, Marshall founded a nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids called MANonFIRE. Through MANonFIRE, where Marshall also serves as the CEO, he combines his love for basketball with his desire to serve by connecting youths to local churches.
