    The Post-Pokémon Gold Rush

    The Post-Pokémon Gold Rush

On this inaugural episode of Obscuriosities, we talk about mon games – games inspired to ride the coattails of Pokémon’s creature-collecting craze. But of course, unlike a Digimon or a Monster Rancher… these games didn’t make it big.

Today, we explore Kotobattle: Tengai no Moribito (Game Boy Color), Kanzume Monsters (Game Boy), Kanzume Monsters: Parfait (Game Boy Color), Kaseki Sōsei Reborn (Game Boy), and Kaseki Sōsei Reborn II: Monster Digger (Game Boy Color).

Loved this, hope there’s more someday

Really love this show, from the enthusiasm of the host to the actual research put into talking about these games. The show has also put several games on my radar that I’m now interested in. I don’t know why the show ended so soon, but I hope someday more can be made.

Can’t wait for more

Stumbled across this podcast when searching for episodes about Game Boy games, and really excited by the depth here. Really appreciate that they discuss truly rare games and things I definitely want to check out. They have a fantastic companion website with screenshots and other info that enhances the episodes. Really hope they keep coming out with episodes and new content!
