Formerly TalkPoverty Radio, Off-Kilter is a podcast about poverty and inequality — and everything they intersect with. Each week, host Rebecca Vallas is joined by experts, advocates, activists, and other smart people to break down the issues of the day — and how we fight back. Heavy topics… but with a hefty dose of laughter and snark. Off-Kilter is powered by the Center for American Progress Action Fund. The Sahm Rule
Excellent interview! So informative about government and our tax dollars!
The single best pod on poverty and inequality. Hands down.
I am consistently wowed by the caliber of guests on this show, the breadth of topics it covers, and the prescience on what the truly important stories of the day are. I appreciate how the guests range from high-profile--elected officials, world renowned researchers--to grassroots activists and folks living in poverty sharing their stories in a tremendously powerful way. And the infusion of humor is the icing on the cake. Hats off, OffKilter.
A policy tour de force
If you are interested in social policy, this is a great source of information that is broadly accessible. It combines policy "wonkiness" with personal stories and entertainment. The podcast is left leaning but should be a listen regardless of political affiliation. The description of social policy is effective because the host reviews the broad issues and then tries to dig deeper into the factors driving policy change. Hence even if you disagree with the perspective, the presentation is still quite useful in providing clarity to a policy stance. The host keeps the audience engaged in policy issues with questions that are easy to follow and try to mix substance with humor and entertainment. It's a challenging balance that this podcast pulls off. The other 5 star reviews are justified
