Heritage Classic Jerseys, training camp rosters, and arguing about paywalls
With the pre-season well underway and cuts starting to happen, there was plenty to talk about on the latest episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off the podcast, we started with a chat about the pre-season and whether the first three games changed our opinion on any of the players, opposition, or teams. As you'll hear, today's delicious debate fell off the rails almost immediately as the topic of Oilers+ caused another argument even though it really didn't need to happen. From there, we previewed tonight’s game between the Oilers and Flames and what we expect from a prospect-laden lineup against a bunch of Calgary's regulars. What should we look for during these final pre-season games even if we don't care about the score? Sticking with the training camp vibes, we walked through the latest cuts and how narrowing the group down by 15 players affects those who remain. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's quote game, and Hot and Cold performers.

The pre-season is days away, the Ekholm/McLeod injuries, and advanced analytics
With training camps kicking off this week and the first pre-season game coming up on Sunday, there was plenty to talk about on the latest episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about the biggest storylines coming into Oilers training camp. Whether it's Mattias Ekholm and Ryan McLeod being out to start camp, the players that are fighting for jobs, or who is going to win this year's Ty Rattie Award, there are a handful of stories that Oilers fans will be watching even though they aren't nearly as sexy as they used to be. From there, we walked through Michael Parkatti's hiring as the new Senior Director of Data and Analytics and whether the Oilers will actually use the service as a tool of evaluation. We also touched on the latest episode of the Mitts Off Podcast where Tyson Barrie spoke about the trade that sent him to Nashville and how it was disappointing to move on from a team with Stanley Cup aspirations. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another edition of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold Performers to cap it all off.

Another PTO, Mike Babcock & big upgrades to Kennedy's game
There was no Baggedmilk or Tyler on this Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio; instead, it was Dan, Rick, Liam and Kennedy filling you in on everything Oilers.
Like every episode, the show starts with the Delicious Debate, brought to you by Wilhauk Beef Jerky. The gang debated on the Oilers biggest deficiency from last season that should change this time around. After that, the biggest news coming out of Oil Country was the addition of Adam Erne on a professional tryout contract. Ken Holland now has three players on PTO after bringing in Brandon Sutter and Sam Gagner a couple of weeks ago, so what does this mean for the opening day lineup? Could one of those three or more crack the team? Shortly after, they moved away from the Oilers talk to discuss the Mike Babcock and Columbus Blue Jackets situation.
Finally, to close the show, the gang played Kennedy's game, which had some big upgrades, along with Ask The Idiots and Hot and Cold performances. You can hear all of that and more on today's episode.

The Battle for Roster Spots, Learning to Not Lose, and the Heritage Classic
The boys are back in town, which meant there was plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off this week's podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about who will grab the final roster spot with the Oilers by the time training camp is all said and done. With Lane Pederson, Sam Gagner, and Raphael Lavoie all fighting for the final roster spot, it will be very interesting to see how that battle shakes out. Looking at the captain's skates that are happening at Rogers Place, we talked about how it's great to see the team getting to town so early and hitting the ice with purpose. While we always see teams showing up for optional skates every summer, this year just feels different because of the way the last season ended. We also covered the Nail Yakupov interview from Dropping the Gloves that happened this past week, and how it offered an interesting look behind the scenes at what was going on while he was hear. Needless to say, Yak didn't have much fun in Edmonton and that was a real bummer given how excited we all were to have him. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another edition of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's Quote Game, and Hot and Cold Performers to cap it all off.

Sam Gagner is back, Kassian's PTO in Anaheim, and Devin Shore lands in Seattle
There was some actual Oilers news to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a random conversation about woodpeckers attacking Jay's house. Why? It's a fair question given that woodpeckers have nothing to do with the Edmonton Oilers. Getting the podcast back on track, we got into the Oilers talk with a delicious debate about which PTO — Sam Gagner or Brandon Sutter — is most likely to turn their tryout into a contract. Will either of them even make it out of camp? Checking in on some former friends, we looked at the Zack Kassian PTO in Anaheim and Devin Shore landing a one-year with the Seattle Kraken. Seeing former Oilers land in other markets led us to discuss whether or not the bottom portion of our roster will have enough firepower to relieve the pressure on McDavid and Draisaitl to perform. What is a fair season for Nuge? What will Evander Kane do now that he's healthy? How will Connor Brown fare in his first year in Edmonton? Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold performers.

Evan Bouchard's deal, Auston Matthews' contract, and Connor McDavid's Edmonton quotes
There was some actual Oilers news to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.
Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about the Evan Bouchard contract that came down this past week, and whether or not it's a fair deal for the team and player. While everyone on the podcast felt like the deal was exactly what we should have expected, that didn't mean plenty of folks weren't still upset about where this contract ended up. We also looked at the Auston Matthews contract that came down in Toronto and how that may affect our own two stars going forward. The Matthews contract led us to talk about the Connor McDavid interview at Sportsnet and whether we should be concerned or not about his answer pertaining to signing an extension. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, and Hot and Cold performers.

An auditory masterclass
If you listen to only one episode in your life, do yourself a favour and listen to the guys sing “I’m a Barbie Girl” on episode 256.
The Reason for Being an Oilers Fan
Being an Oilers fan in Rhode Island is tough, but you all are the reason I keep hanging on. McDavid, Nuge, Draisaitl…whoever the players are, may come and go, but listening to your show is the highlight of my week. I just wish you were on more often!
Oilers Nation 4Life
This is probably the best Oilers podcast period. The hosts have a good dynamic and knowledge about hockey. Makes me feel like I’m living in the city again. One tip to try to cut down on the profanity for those with kids. Good job all.
