    168. Creating Resiliency In Kids With Michelle Icard

    We talk to Michelle Icard, author of Eight Setbacks That Can Make A Child A Success, about letting our kids make mistakes, and how to help them work through them.

    about michelle icard

    Michelle Icard has worked with parents, children, and teachers for more than 20 years, creating curriculum, books, and programs that help them better understand and navigate early adolescence.

    Michelle is the author of three books on this subject. Her latest, 8 Setbacks That Can Make a Child a Success: What to Do and What to Say to Turn “Failures’ into Character-Building Moments (2023) is an invaluable playbook for anxious parents everywhere, ensuring that a child’s mistakes or rebellions don’t become the headline of their childhood, but instead become a launch pad to a better future.

    She has two young adult children who mostly live elsewhere these days, which leaves lots of time for walking her dogs, binging shows, and puzzling (crossword and jigsaw) with her husband in Charlotte, North Carolina.

    165. Female Friendships Through the Hard Sh!t with Olivia Howell

    Life is hard, and knowing exactly what to say to show your loved ones you care can be even harder. Olivia Howell, creator of the Fresh Starts Registry, and co-author of Simple Scripts to Support Your People: What to Say When You Don't Know How to Say joins us to discuss how to keep your female friendships alive even when life is busy.

    Meet olivia howell

    Olivia Howell is the co-founder and CEO of Fresh Starts Registry, the first and only platform for everything you need to begin again, including divorce or breakup, moving, career changes, stepping into your truth, or starting again after grief. After her own divorce in 2019, Olivia had an 'aha moment' when she realized that we celebrate weddings and babies with a registry, but in the moments we really need to restock our life, like divorce, job loss, or any brave decision and major life change, we need the support, both in the form of support items for your home and the experts who become our hype team. From there, Fresh Starts Registry was born, the first Support Registry and Divorce Registry - and the only platform which aggregates support experts for all life changes and supports the Fresh Starts Experts in their marketing, business, and public relations. Olivia is also the co-host of the top rated podcast, A Fresh Story, and the co-author of Simple Scripts to Support Your People: What to Say When You Don't Know What to Say.

Keeping it real!

I have been listening to Heather and Brittany for awhile now. I listen to them on my long commute and it is the highlight of my week. People driving past me much think I have lost it because I am laughing and smiling as they breakdown the realities of motherhood. They also bring in some great guests too but I literally could listen to them and their stories all day long.

Friends Who Laugh Together

Make me laugh and they help me chill out about my parenting.

I have been a guest and they made me laugh when we were recording too.

@quietbookqueen ,

I think we'd be friends!

I just love their dynamic. Brittany and Heather are relatable and fun, but also aren’t afraid to stand up for important social issues. I feel a part of their conversation, and I find myself nodding or smiling all the time. They validate my feelings and it's nice to know I'm not the only one!
