Oklahoma Voices - Race Massacre Voices of Oklahoma

    • Society & Culture

Over the past twelve years, Voices of Oklahoma has been collecting stories of the 1921 Race Massacre. As we observe the centennial of the event, we are presenting the oral histories of eleven people who shared their memories and their reflections on May 31st & June 1st, 1921.

During this podcast you will hear Opal Moss, Wess Young, Wavel Ashbaugh, Otis Clark, Joe Moore, Bruce Fisher, Jenkin Jones Jr., Nancy Feldman, Dr. G. Calvin McCutchen and Reuben Gant.

Of this group, seven are no longer with us, which demonstrates the importance of oral history and underlines our theme: “Preserving Oklahoma’s legacy, one voice at a time.”

Full interviews are available on our website: VoicesofOklahoma.com
