Well worth checking out

WNCW is a top-shelf NPR station in the mountains of North Carolina. They have a local music emphasis that features plenty of blues, bluegrass, indie rock, folk, etc. but they also play a little bit of everything from all over. Joe Kendrick has been a DJ since before I started listening the station umpteen years ago and has since become the general manager. He knows his stuff, giving you a good bit of background on many of the artists he features on On the Way Up, which is an extension of the station's freewheeling music mix. Personally, I think good music podcasts - especially ones on the rootsier end of the spectrum - are very hard to find, and I'd personally put On the Way Up on the same level as more well-known podcasts like All Songs Considered. In fact, as much as I enjoy All Songs Considered, I think I enjoy On the Way Up more. There's just more variety and life in the mix.
