OFTV Presents - Interview with Abram J Lewis

AJ Lewis is a post doctoral fellow at Grinnell College in Iowa, and the co-founder of the NYC Trans Oral History Project, a partnership with the New York Public Library system. -

Morgan M. Page is a delight and OFTV is a favorite. Equal parts salacious and historically accurate, this is the best queer history podcast out there.
Amazing Historical Podcast
It was time for me to write a proper review. OFTV is a podcast about trans history, narrated, researched, and produced by Morgan M. Page. She usually focuses each episode on someone from trans history, or an organization that made a big impact on trans people.
A few things make this podcast stand out. First is Morgan’s own love for the glamorous and glitzy side of history. This really shines when she’s talking about people like Candy Darling, Holly Woodlawn, Alexandra the Great 48 and others. Second is Morgan’s use of music. By about the fourth or fifth episode she seems to have found a way to work music in seamlessly, and especially as she gains more experience building episodes, the music sets the tone. She uses it to set the time period, the mood for the episode, and so much more.
Finally, there’s Morgan herself. It’s her personality that keeps me listening. She’s a well read, well researched historian and presents the stories as completely as possible. Her love of glamour and gossip are evident when she’s telling each story. Morgan reads all the sources and crafts her episodes around as comprehensive a narrative ad she can make. Like she says herself often, you really have to read between the lines to get the whole story.
If you’re interested in history, or trans people, or just like listening to interesting stories told by a great storyteller who mixes in the right music, this podcast is for you. Make sure you subscribe!
Excellent history podcast
I am fairly new to podcasts. As a trans queer person & a lover of social history, I am thoroughly impressed with diversity of stories shared. I have listened to roughly half of episodes published so far, as I prefer to listen in chronological order. I thoroughly recommend this podcast.
