Ep 61 // One Thing You Need to Avoid for Successful Parenting {The SO THAT Series}
Who doesn’t get frustrated or aggravated with their kids every once in a while? Or maybe…more often than we care to admit! It’s totally natural. And…God has something to say about not exasperating our kids. Even when they refuse to listen and drive us 🦇
Ask God for a Kingdom vision of who your kids are and speak into them today! How can such wisdom be packed into one single sentence? That’s our God for you!
Welcome to the “SO THAT” series! This journey will lead you into the WHY behind the WHAT of the Christian faith. We’re told to know and believe so many things - but why?
Together we are studying the connector phrase “so that” as it relates to Scripture. This tiny little phrase will lead you deeper into the heart of God SO THAT Christ may be glorified in your life and on this earth.
In short, this series explores the REASON for the ACTION and BELIEF of the Christian faith. Why does any of this really matter?
FOCUS in this episode: Colossians 3:21
Things we will explore in this episode:
The SO THAT connection in Colossians 3:21.
The desire for all parents to have obedient kids! 🤪
The consequences of exasperating or embittering our kids.
The vulnerability of apologizing to our kids.
What exaperates your kids.  What does it look like to have Kingdom vision and expectations for your kids.  Reflection questions you’ll ask yourself in this episode:
If you are married or a parent, which has been “hardest” for you to navigate? Maybe both.
What is your hot button trigger as a parent? What do your kids do that bothers you? Why does it bother you so much?
How do you tend to handle being "set off" as a parent?  What do you do as a parent that drives your kids crazy? What exasperates them?
Share a time you chose to humbly apologize to your kid(s). What happened? How did it feel to do so? Do you have a disconnected relationship with a child? If yes, what happened? Why do you think it got to this place?
Do you think you have any unreasonable expectations for your kids? If so, what are they?  Describe your deepest desire for your kids. What do you want your relationship with them to look like both now and in the future? What will it take to achieve this? Ask God to show you His vision for your kids. What does He show you about their purpose and future? What letter/text/or message can you send your kids right now to encourage them? Megan is a Kingdom life coach, author, and speaker who helps God’s people align with God’s voice and get activated to live into their divine destiny! Join her to have conversations on reframing life, love, and calling to live the life God has so purposefully created for you.
