In the second episode of The Campaign Trail, Elections Daily looks back on the 1824 presidential election, one of the most controversial in American history. The Democratic-Republican Party, after decades of dominance against the faltering Federalist Party, imploded in tremendous fashion, with four members of the party mounting credible bids for the Presidency. 

With no candidate receiving a majority of the electoral vote, second-place finisher John Quincy Adams emerged from the House of Representatives vote as President, changing American history forever in the process.
