Rise of the Phoenix – The Lie Suicide Tells and the Truth: You Are Enough

Lindsay Stadel is a wife, mother, grandmother, and accomplished entrepreneur who leads four successful companies: Stadel Farms, Inc., S & S Harvesting, LLC, Flinthills Transport, LLC, and TLS Logistics, LLC. Her commitment to mental health advocacy is rooted in personal experience with suicide loss and her own journey through mental health challenges. As an award‑winning author, she uses her writing and her voice to confront stigma and support those struggling with suicidal thoughts. Lindsay is now expanding her work into public speaking to help organizations address mental health with honesty, compassion, and hope. Lindsey’s story isn’t polished or dramatic; it’s the story of someone who kept going when stopping felt easier. This isn’t a lecture, and it isn’t a slogan. It’s a conversation about what survival actually looks like when you’re in the middle of the fire and can’t see anything past the pain. It’s about the part of you that hasn’t had the chance to exist yet — the part that comes after the collapse, after the shame, after the silence. The phoenix doesn’t rise because it’s strong. It rises because it isn’t done. Audio note: This episode was recorded in November, during a stretch when I was still recovering from throat surgery and dealing with some Windows‑side recording issues. You may hear a few rough spots because of that. The next episode, with Matthew Stevens, is the first one using the improved chain and the upgraded studio sound. The Other Side of Chaos - Talking Dyslɘxiɑ, ADHD, and Neurodiversity for Real

Most dyslexic professionals grow up believing they’re behind. Coach Willie Blake knows that story from the inside. Diagnosed in first grade, he spent years trying to hide, trying to catch up, and trying to be someone he wasn’t. Eventually, he made a different choice — if he was going to live with dyslexia, he was going to lead with it. Today, Willie is the go‑to high‑performance coach for dyslexic entrepreneurs, creators, and career professionals who are ready to trade self‑doubt for confidence and overthinking for clarity. Through simple, practical frameworks like the 2% Rule and the GPS Goal Method, he helps people take real action even when they’ve felt “behind” their whole life. In this conversation, Willie brings the same mix of heart, humor, and lived experience that’s made him a dynamic speaker on 500+ stages and the host of Light Beyond Limits. We talk about identity, momentum, and what actually helps dyslexic minds move forward. If you’ve ever felt different, stuck, or underestimated — this one will hit home. Rebrand Coming January 27th at Midnight

________________________________________ Here is a transcript of what's in this episode. Bob talks first , the following will be read by a voiceover. This is an important message for all OTR listeners, and I want to make sure I reach everybody. This is also in the description, but it’s presented verbally next. This will bring everyone up to date on the exciting rebrand starting January 27th at midnight. So, what’s happening OTR – Achieving Mental Health for Real is heading into a major rebrand on January 27th, where we’re calling the brand OTR Universe — the structure this project was always meant to have. First the new logo, which you may have seen on the social sites. Plus, OTR Universe will be anchored from a brand-new home website, which becomes the listener portal. The entire site gets a full rebuild in the rebrand, including new and updated menu names and functionality, but will still have the links to the popular podcast player as before. The following describes the functionality accessible from the new home main web page: OTR Public Square — the new front door This is where people show up, speak freely, and participate. This is a repurpose of the Ki-Fo dot com site currently called Real Plus. The site is design to be for a sponsor site and has places to donate all over the site, I took out all that I could, but to cut corners I needed a ready built site to establish a community posting and message board which will be renamed to Public Square in OTR Universe and accessible from the main home site I have several objectives with OTR Universe. Mostly to reach listeners to come share your stories and meet others that will validate them, and that’s what it’s all about. Be a part of OTR Universe and achieve mental health for real, To thank you for trying to connect, we will give you free Real Premium for at least a full year to try the benefits and decide if you want to renew for another year for six cents a day. You can activate now by sending an anonymous post addressed to staff or Public Square. Write that you want it for free and you will actually not start the year until all benefits are rolled in one at a time. You will receive each benefit as soon as there rolled out, full details ahead. I just ask you to consider it, so we can form a small healing community. This is my dream but only your courage and support can make it come true. There will be two ways to post to Public Square 1, Anonymous Posting Zero tracing information. You post. We receive only the post. You can choose to send it to staff only, or you can have it appear on the Public Square post page. This process is not posted live since it’s not tied to the Public Square directly. So, no logon or email needed. It will be transferred to the Public Square post page throughout the day automatically. It’s the only way to do totally anonymous posting. 2. Named Live Posting Live interaction with other Public Square users and staff. More features. More connection. Requires free sign up to Ki Fo.com with logon id name and password and any email address. The logon id does not have to be an email address. No obligation. No subscription. You can use a temporary email address and delete that email address after you sign-up — you remain virtually anonymous. It is a little more work, but it gets posted immediately. This process is available today from the home website, the above only details how it will be for the rebrand. Personal Note I know the community thing is currently not popular and I understand. I felt embarrassed and shame before I first came out with my full name. All I’m saying is you may be carrying this shame weight around too long, it’s really time you shared 101 percent anonymously. You have my word. The podcast app you listen to now takes more info from you. Because anonymous posting takes zero. Let it out, you are not alone. OTR Universe is here. It’s no obligation and everything to gain. Because the power of validation is Real. It’s what I do on the show, Also, if you’re a student in a mental health field or work in mental health, please let me know your there. Its all that I’m asking. Let me know that I’m helping. The Podcast OTR – Achieving Mental Health for Real is still the center of the universe, the show that’s carried the weight from day one — the steady signal everything else orbits is still the same quality that your used to, and then some. Season XI will bring improved sound quality, especially noticeable starting in March. Also, of course, the new logo, a high profile and mission critical guests’ line-up, and a few other surprises. Podcast Scope Additions Achieving Mental Health for Real will not only dive into many Mental Health issues which speaks to the internal part of you , but will also take a deep dive into how you navigate the external relationships with family, friends, co-workers and others. This may be solo or panel episodes, instead of a guest format, OTR Blog Another new product under the Universe is the new OTR blog We decided the name of the blog in OTR universe will be “Lies From the Tablecloth” which will be a hard hitting monthly always free blog discussing the lies that your family, friends and the rest of society put on you and the scripts that your expected to follow. The blog will especially debunk the myths, stigma, and inherited lies about mental health. It will do this with theory, lived experience, satire and humor. The premier of the blog will be in March. Real Premium is back and is now free for the first year Real Premium will eventually become a subscription layer, but every benefit is now free for a full year if you activate it. To activate, there are only a couple of ways to let me know. By Anonymous or Named live Posting. Anonymous posting will automatically return a password and link to the benefit drop file. Otherwise, you can send an email to overtherainbowbob@gmail.com titled “Real Premium” and I will send back the drop site benefit file and password, Initial benefits • Early Release – includes the January 27th initial early drop • Bloopers – feel free to ask for the first drop file and password Coming in 2026 • Annotated Transcripts — not just what we said, but why it mattered • Monthly Dispatch — one email, no marketing, just what we’re building and breaking • Verified / Co Authored Badge — a quiet nod that you’re shaping this with us • Suggestion Box (with Teeth) — you pitch it, we respond; if it’s good, we build it Your free year does not start until all initial benefits are live. After the year, you can subscribe to Real Premium to continue benefits. If you do nothing, benefits simply end. No auto subscription. Ever. ________________________________________ Premium Subscription Details • $1.99/month • Or $22/year • About 6 cents a day • Price never increases once you’re in, unless you leave for more than a year • Once there are five or more subscribers, 5% dividends go back to subscribers (If the price rises for new members, dividends could eventually offset your entire cost) I’ve funded this show myself for all these years because staying free of degrading, morally questionable ads matters. But to keep building, I need help — not charity, but investment. An investment in the show, and in the mission of real mental health. Thank you ahead of time. When Does Rebrand Benefits Start The rebrand happens at midnight January 27th, The first Early Release drops then too, exclusively inside Real Premium. That is the only access point on rebrand day. The first early release episode will feature my guest Chris Boardman, a genius composer and orchestrator behind major Hollywood films like The Color Purple, Die Hard, and Payback. His accolades include: • Six Emmy Awards and 13 Nominations • Academy Award nomination for The Color Purple • Major credits across films, , and records • Collaborations with Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, and Marvin Hamlischan • Platinum selling arranger and orchestrator • Member of the jazz group Wishful Thinking Boardman is the person studios call when they need elegance, complexity, or a musical problem solved fast. He moves between genres — orchestral, jazz, pop, Broadway, film score — without losing clarity or emotional precision. Chris came to OTR to tell the story of his battle with his Mental Health and to talk about his most meaningful work that emerged from his personal battle with PTSD. Recognizing how his musical storytelling skills could help others face similar struggles, he founded SoundBridge Health to harness music's therapeutic power in combating anxiety, depression and PTSD. What began as his own healing journey has now become his life's purpose - using music as medicine for those who suffer. So get ready for this huge shift to OTR Universe and watch for further detail on the social pages. It’s a can’t miss premiere. Turning Feminine Pain Into Personal Wisdom — A Conversation That Reaches Men Too

In this episode, we sit down with Kerry — mother, shaman, and newly published author of My Inner Heroine: Exploring Feminine Pain — to explore a life shaped by trauma, awakening, and radical self‑belief. As you can hear in the episode, her wisdom can apply in general to men. Kerry grew up in a single‑mother household in Southern California, navigating isolation, social struggle, and the early pressure to grow up fast. Her path carried her from Hot Dog on a Stick at 14, to studying Chinese and Religious Studies, to a marriage sparked in Tibet, to motherhood, divorce, and a corporate career in compliance. But the turning point came in 2015, when her mother died on Kerry’s 45th birthday — a moment that cracked her life open and forced her to confront the psychic gifts and childhood wounds she had long avoided. What followed was a decade of upheaval and transformation. Kerry speaks candidly about the darkest moments, including a suicide attempt, and the unexpected teachers who helped her rebuild: shamans, psychologists, physicists, yogis, and the men who mirrored her deepest wounds back to her. From a chess champion to decorated fire academy instructors to a former FBI assistant special agent in charge, each relationship became a catalyst for self‑understanding and spiritual expansion. Kerry also shares the profound synchronicities that led her to accept a past‑life identity as Mary Magdalene — a belief that reshaped her understanding of feminine pain, spiritual lineage, and her purpose in this lifetime. This conversation is raw, unfiltered, and deeply human. Kerry brings a rare willingness to go into the places most people avoid — trauma, identity, mysticism, sexuality, and the messy, nonlinear path of healing. Her story is an invitation to anyone carrying emotional wounds to transform them into wisdom, power, and self‑trust. This conversation with Becky McCoy doesn’t shy away from the hard edges; instead, it opens space for tenderness, courage, and the slow work of healing. Becky brings her lived experience as a young widow, her training in spiritual formation, and her trauma informed approach to guide listeners through what it means to suffer, to question, and to keep going. …let’s listen in. Producing Dopamine - A Healthy Alternative — a powerful and eye‑opening conversation with Andy Y. West, who takes us inside her journey from the depths of long COVID and cognitive decline to a full, vibrant recovery by learning to work with the brain’s dopamine system instead of against it. Drawing from her books Planet Dopamine, Dopamine Mountain, and Anhedonia Wastelands, Andy breaks down how dopamine shapes our behavior, why harmful coping mechanisms can feel so compelling, and how intentional, science‑backed habits can retrain the brain toward healthier, sustainable sources of motivation and joy. Together, we explore the neurobiology behind drive, the biochemical loop of self‑harm, and practical tools for rewiring mindset, rebuilding momentum, and lifting ourselves out of depression and anxiety. It’s an energizing, hopeful, and surprisingly fun deep dive into reclaiming our mental health in a world overloaded with negativity — and a reminder that unity, love, and intentional change can reshape everything …let’s listen in. Hi, I'm God - Recovery and Thriving with Schizophrenia We revisit a conversation with Dale Walsh, a man who has not only lived through schizophrenia but transformed that experience into a source of clarity, purpose, and service. Drawing from his rare “inside‑out” perspective, Dale guides families navigating the realities of serious mental illness, helping them bridge emotional distance and rediscover connection. His LIVELOVE method offers caregivers a way to communicate with compassion while reclaiming their own identity in the process. This segment honors the resilience, honesty, and humanity at the heart of mental health stories — and the power of lived experience to illuminate a path forward. Warrior Mom Rising- Story of Recovery from PTSD using EMDR is Next. Her book Warrior Mom Rising chronicles the moments when she felt lost, overwhelmed, and unsure how to help, yet still kept fighting for connection, clarity, and hope. Just a Person - Living Authentically through ADHD, PTSD, using CMI We revisit a conversation with Estefana Johnson, who surprised me right out of the gate by describing herself simply as “just a person,” despite a career filled with depth, experience, and impact. Our discussion moved from the power of living as your authentic, unmasked self into her leadership role in launching Critical Memory Integration — a therapeutic model that challenges the idea that talk therapy alone can reach the roots of trauma. With more than two decades in mental health, from residential treatment to medical social work to her current role supporting psychedelic‑assisted therapy research, Estefana brings a rare blend of clinical expertise and human honesty. CMI pushes beneath the surface, helping people uncover and rewrite the unconscious survival strategies that linger long after trauma. This segment captures her clarity, her courage, and her commitment to “Allyship in the Workplace - Help for Neurodivergent and other marginalized groups” In this clip we talk to Dr. Victoria Mattingly about Allyship in the workplace, which is the active practice of using one's privilege and influence to support, advocate for, and create a more equitable and inclusive environment for colleagues from marginalized or underrepresented groups. An example in mental health would be a neurotypical assisting a nuerodivergent Dr. Victoria Mattingly is CEO and founder of the workplace inclusion consulting firm Mattingly Solutions. She is a keynote speaker, a published author, a mental health warrior, and passionate about improving human experience at work She also speaks to organizations and professional associations about how to better support mental health in the workplace. “We're All Goin F^^kin Die (Handling Anxiety, Grief, Death, and Cancer)” We revisit a raw and unfiltered conversation with Zulma Williams, host of Keeping It Real with Zulma the Swearing Therapist. This segment dives straight into the hard places — anxiety, grief, personal demons, and the weight of loss — alongside Zulma’s own story of facing a breast cancer diagnosis at 46. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Zulma survived abusive relationships, depression, and suicidal ideation before immigrating to the U.S. at 31. She rebuilt her life through education and purpose, earning her Bachelor of Social Work at 46, then returning years later to complete her Master’s and become a licensed social worker. Today she leads Dragonfly Therapy Services, specializing in trauma, anxiety, and depression, bringing a lifetime of grit and honesty to her work. This conversation is candid, emotional, and unmistakably real — and yes, Zulma’s trademark colorful language is part of the package. Consider this your heads‑up as you decide how you want to take it in. "Transforming Anxiety, Stress, and Trauma through Tapping - Treatment for PTSD and Other Mental Issues” This is a grounded and heartfelt conversation with Amy Vincze, who grew up carrying the impact of childhood trauma after her father left when she was four. That early abandonment shaped years of PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and eventually pushed her to search for tools that could help her understand and calm what was happening inside her. Amy eventually discovered Tapping, a structured technique that helped her manage symptoms and explore the patterns beneath them. In this episode, she walks us through the basics of the practice and how it can support people living with PTSD or other mental health challenges. And as always, exploring painful memories can be intense, so working with a trained counselor can offer safety and support along the way …let’s listen in. “Troubled Teen Programs—for Real: Do they Help or Harm?” A revealing and deeply informed conversation with Dr. Corey Jentry, author of Selling Sanity: The Troubled‑Teen Industry, the Insane Profits, and the Kids Who Pay the Price. A survivor of a troubled‑teen program himself, Corey brings both lived experience and academic rigor, holding a Ph.D. in Political Science from the London School of Economics. He walks us through his own rough upbringing, the program he endured, and the larger system that markets itself as “help” while too often causing lasting harm. Corey makes it clear that not every program is dangerous — but the exceptions are rare, and families deserve to approach these decisions with the same scrutiny they’d use when choosing a college. Today, he works with families, educators, and advocates to identify red flags, protect vulnerable kids, and push for meaningful reform. Beyond his advocacy, Corey is also a strategic leader in healthcare innovation and organizational growth, bringing a wide‑angle view of how systems operate and how they can change. It’s an essential conversation for anyone trying to understand the troubled‑teen industry and the tools we need to keep young people safe …let’s listen in. “Overcoming Binge Eating - Rewiring the Brain” This is a thoughtful and empowering conversation with Amber Abila, who helps women break free from binge eating and overeating by understanding how the brain forms habits around food. After years of struggling with her own relationship with eating — trying therapy, calorie

Real - Best of "OTR - Achieving Mental Health for Real" Part 6

Creating Spaces with Natalie Bedard (ADHD, PTSD,OCD). We open with Natalie Bedard (NatNat), an Energy Healing Specialist who helps people regulate the nervous system and transform anxiety into empowerment through her brand LiftOneSelf. She’s been featured on multiple podcasts, always reminding us that self‑care is personal and that understanding our own biology is essential. This episode is special because NatNat turns her insight toward me. I open up about the negative voices in my head — the ones many listeners know too well. It gets emotional, and she meets it with compassion, clarity, and spiritual guidance. She offers practical ways to quiet those inner demons, plus a short meditation to help ground the moment. You might want a box of Kleenex. I certainly did. I don’t pretend to have it all together — I’m traveling toward home just like you. Sleep Lists for the Sleepless Next is Helen Sernett, host of the podcast Sleep Lists and a dedicated sleep and wellness enthusiast. Her show uses simple, soothing lists — numerical, chronological, or alphabetical — all designed to help listeners drift off before the episode ends. And if you’re still awake, she offers gentle suggestions to help you settle into sleep. With six episodes per season, quarterly releases, and special holiday editions, there’s always something calming to queue up. We talk about alternative sleep routines for people without traditional schedules — remote workers, flex‑schedule professionals, college students, and retirees — and how daytime napping can support better rest. Good sleep is essential to mental health, and Helen’s podcast may be exactly the natural support you need. Advocacy for Inclusion - Neurodivergent Acceptance into Society Next we talk to Khushboo Chabria, a neurodiversity specialist, career coach, and mental health advocate reshaping how workplaces and schools include neurodivergent people. We talk about why ADHD, Autism, and other forms of neurodiversity are not disorders, and why every brain deserves the right accommodation. Khushboo is the coauthor of Neurodiversity for Dummies (including the full ADHD chapter) and leads transformative work through Neurodiversity Pathways at Goodwill of Silicon Valley. Drawing on her therapeutic background, leadership experience, and her own ADHD journey, she brings a powerful, authentic perspective to this conversation. Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology. Dr. Fredric Schiffer joins me to discuss his groundbreaking new book, Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life‑Changing Science of Dual‑Brain Psychology. A best‑selling author, psychiatrist, public speaker, and part‑time assistant professor at Harvard, Dr. Schiffer has spent decades studying how early trauma, brain laterality, and emotional patterns shape our mental well‑being. His work explores how the two hemispheres of the brain can function like two competing minds — and how treating the more troubled side can reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction. As founder of the Dual‑Brain Psychology Institute, Dr. Schiffer has developed innovative techniques to help people access and heal the wounded part of the mind, including a surprisingly simple method involving something as ordinary as a piece of junk mail. His new book lays out these discoveries and the science behind them, offering a fresh perspective on how unresolved trauma influences our lives and how targeted interventions may support emotional balance. The Truth About Reading with Dyslexia - AI program that teaches Neurodiverse to read effortlessly Let’s listen to the extraordinary journey of David Chalk — a dyslexic, ADHDer, and lifelong technologist who proves that transformation is possible at any age. After appearing in the documentary The Truth About Reading, where he went from struggling through one book a year to reading twenty a month, David is now giving away his ReadingRoad.ai Beta program for free. His story spans being bullied in school, becoming a commercial airline pilot, building major tech companies, and pioneering early internet video. This episode is not an ad, not monetized, and not sponsored — just a chance to hear a man who refused to quit, and now wants to help others do the same. A Couple of Mental Health Badasses - Talking Bi-Polar, ADHD, More In this episode, I sit down with Justine Rodes, host of the podcast Mentally A Bad Ass, for a raw, unfiltered conversation about mental health. Justine opens up about living with Bipolar II, how she’s learned to manage it, and what it was like growing up with a mother navigating her own mental health challenges. Together, we dig into anger management, ADHD, recovery strategies, and the realities so many people face but rarely talk about openly. From my soapbox, I take aim at how mainstream media continues to overlook neurodivergent accommodations — and why grassroots creators on social platforms are the ones driving real change. It’s a candid, grounded, and necessary dialogue between two people committed to telling the truth about mental health. My Brain is Not Broken, it's Just Different - NueroSpicy, ADHD Next in our series, I sit down with Dr. Kristen Williamson—licensed professional counselor, neurodivergent advocate, and the proud ringleader of a “neurospicy” family. From late-night epiphanies to busting mental health myths, her journey is equal parts chaos and joy as she navigates autism, ADHD, and parenting kids who keep her on her toes. Discovering her own neurodivergence in adulthood gave her the clarity—and the mission—to help others embrace their differences and thrive. With humor, personal stories, and practical wisdom, she explores why neurodivergent brains are a workplace superpower, how “chaotic energy” can fuel leadership, and why mental health deserves more hope than gloom. When she’s not counseling or speaking on neurodiversity and DEIB, she’s debating pineapple on pizza, sharpening her meme game, or planning her next adventure. Let’s listen. Meditation for Real - Pathway to Happiness This is a can't miss. My special guest is Bob Martin a Certified Meditation teacher with an MSW (Master of Social Work) to go with his JD (Juris Doctor). He has helped hundreds redesign their thinking for the life they dream of. Bob is a published author and Professor of Wellness at Elon University, Bob blends Taoist wisdom, brain science, psychology, and humor to tackle everything from breaking free of limiting beliefs to finding clarity and resilience in life’s chaos. In this episode Bob lays out how meditation really works and other great information. That concludes Real 6, the first half of 2025. Because I didn’t want to pull anything out of Real 6, I decided it demands Real 7. That will be coming soon after the New Year to catch you up on all the shows in the original brand. Which means on January 20th, the rebranding of OTR will start at midnight. Early last year I had surgery on my vocal cords, which unfortunately caused a very scratchy throat. Thank you for your patience and support — that is now much improved. Starting in March, new software will vastly improve both host and guest sound. Real Plus is our community concept, and it can only work if you want it to. Currently, anonymous posting is available through the home website at bobadleman.wixsite.com/otrmentalhealth. Try the “Anon Post” menu feature to post either to the community board or directly to staff. Ask for Real Plus benefits for a year — free, truly free — starting with the early release of the January 20th premiere of Season 11. Mental health will only come through being part of a community like Real Plus, where everyone is equal and can validate each other. And if you post even once, it will give you a free trial of Real Plus benefits for a minimum of one year. The rest is up to you. In Real Plus, everyone is equal no matter how many problems you have. If you think everything sucks and everyone feels kind of lost, community will change that. If you think nobody loves you, you’re wrong — because I do, and everyone in Real Plus does. Give it a shot, because it lives and dies with you. I will keep giving, as OTR will always be commercial‑free and detached from any false doctrine. After a year, you can decide if you want to continue with the benefits or contribute as little as six cents a day, plus a pool dividend. The price is for life and supports the simple goal of ending needless suffering. To be a member you must post at least once to the show, but hopefully as a named member of the community. Anonymous posts will remain unnamed by choice, but can be assigned a reference nickname so you can converse on the community board. I hope you will...

Overcoming Binge Eating - Rewiring the Brain

Amber Abila helps women stop binge eating and overeating by rewiring their brains so they can finally feel normal and in control around any food. Over 3% of the US population struggles with binge eating and so many more do so in silence. For years, Amber struggled with her own relationship with food, trying everything from therapy and calorie counting to weight loss coaching. Nothing seemed to work until she discovered, through coaching and psychology, that there was nothing “wrong” with her at all — she simply needed practical brain tools to break free from the cycle. By learning how her unconscious brain was driving habitual eating patterns, Amber began making dramatic shifts in her habits and her life. Now she shares those same evidence‑based tools with others, showing women that freedom from food obsession is possible and that lasting change doesn’t come from more discipline or stricter diets, but from understanding and retraining the brain. In this episode, Amber opens up about her journey, the science behind binge eating, and the strategies that helped her reclaim peace with food. Her mission is clear: to ensure no one feels as alone or broken as she once did, and to empower women everywhere to step into confidence, resilience, and joy in their everyday lives.
