This episode is (kind of) a 2/3 on the dog geekery scale.

Caden and Sue talk about pragmatic dog training, letting clients go, boundaries and taking risks with our dogs, property ownership, English, French, Canadian and Mexican dog keeping cultures, rehoming pets and maple sirup. Enjoy!

E38 The one with all the trigger warnings: a conversation with Sir Sue Alexander (part 1).

Anyone catch the FRIENDS reference? Caden and Sue talk about ... all the things they didn't plan to talk about: hunting, maple sirup, prong collars, the supreme court of Alabama and human reproduction, medically assisted suicide ... But REALLY, this episode is about discussing different view points and disagreeing respectfully, and there's also something about pragmatic training and our canine and equine working partners in there. Promise!

E37 The world we want to live in and queer Marxism: a conversation with M.E. O'Brien.

C talks with author M.E. O'Brien whose books they devoured and find both hopeful and inspiring: maybe a just world beyond racial capitalism and nation states is possible ... maybe even within our lifetime. A world of "everything for everyone" or, as C likes to put it, a world where everything (material or not) is either given and received freely ... or not at all. Where saying no is as valid as saying yes. Where there are no strings attached to personal relationships of any kind.

I'm very much ready for it. Are you?

This episode is a 3/3 on the dog geekery scale - it may only be interesting for dog professionals since it's about humans working in the field rather than dog training.

E35 Dog geekery: how to systematically increase difficulty and deal with juvenile dogs

E35 Dog geekery: how to systematically increase difficulty and deal with juvenile dogs

In today's episode, C answers two questions: what's a smart way to increase difficulty once you have trained a behavior? And what should you do if your dream puppy turns into a juvenile dog who doesn't even remember their name?

PS: if you have a brief question, just send it my way and I might answer it on one of the next episodes as well!

Inspiring and Moving

So many dog training podcasts I would describe as instructive or helpful, but THIS one is food for the human spirit. Chrissi and Peter and their guests share not just insights and stories, they share their hearts.

My One Wonderful and Precious Podcast!

What I am loving so much about this podcast is how real it is; real people, real dogs, real, conversations, real stories… It is honest, interesting, and relatable. The podcast includes my favorite topic, dogs and our relationships with them! Chrissi leads the conversations in a way that’s non confrontational, not intimidating, no judgement and explores intimate details and passionate opinions with her guests. And Peter brings a flare that rounds the conversations out and brings his own self and prior self into the podcasts. Thank you Chrissi (Peter, and your Dogs/cats)!!!

Dogs and life, explored!

Chrissi is one of the most remarkable dog trainers I know … and it’s less about training dogs than training people to understand and work with dogs. She has a way of picking out subtle details in behavior of dogs and their people, and leveraging that to improve these important relationships in our lives. Her intuition comes out beautifully in this new podcast that goes back and forth between detailed, well documented descriptions of behavior and training, to explorations ranging from adventures to friendship to cultural differences (and similarities). It’s a fascinating, uplifting, and ultimately very reinforcing listen.
