Our Unlikely Connections with Cindy Rodriguez Cosmic Roadmap with Melissa Lambour

    • Places & Travel

Episode 10

Do you feel like you have a connection to a certain place?

You know that you are meant to do more in the world but you don’t know where to start.

In this episode, I’m talking with Cindy Rodriguez all about how as a teacher in the United States she was able to take that connection she felt for Kenya and create a sewing and boarding program for rural teens.

Cindy is the founder of Elimu Girls established in 2013 to equip girls with the skills to transform the outcomes of their lives. Her passion for human rights, gender equality, and access to education led her to start this grassroots international organization. She is a second-generation Latina woman living in Southern California. Her family stories chronicle the lives of the poor Mexican immigrants who worked at the Simons Brickyard in Los Angeles, CA. She feels a sense of connection with the poverty-stricken teens in rural Kenya, as they were both given a second chance at life through education and empowerment.
