OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET (C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy Part 1‪)‬ Strangers and Aliens: Science Fiction & Fantasy from a Christian Perspective

    • Christianity

Ben and Steve explore Mars via C.S. Lewis’ science fiction novel, the first book in his celebrated “Space Trilogy”, Out of the Silent Planet.

Published in 1938, Out of the Silent Planet is the story of a man, Ransom, who is kidnapped and taken to Mars and thrust into an adventure he never wanted. In the process, he meets alien intelligences and gains and new understanding about a spiritual cosmology.

C.S. Lewis is one of Ben and Steve’s favorite authors, and with his mix of Christianity and science fiction and imagination, this series of books is perhaps the best fit for discussion on a podcast like Strangers and Aliens . . .

Coming soon . . . episodes finishing the trilogy with Perelandra and That Hideous Strength and an episode about the controversial book fragment The Dark Tower.
