In honor of World Mental Health day, I'm resharing my first ever interview on a the Pharmacy Podcast Network's series titled: Pharmacists focused on Mental Health - David Dent, future PharmD class of 2022 (pt. 2).
I hope by sharing my story it helps destigmatize depression among healthcare professionals and helps other pharmacy students be more open about their struggles and encourage others to seek the help they need before it's too late. Here's a quick description of the episode copied from the PPN's show notes, and follow me if you want to stay #AWARxE: beacons.ai/overx.dose

Ep. 10: De-stigmatizing Mental Health with Social Media w/ Dr. Jake Goodman (@jakegoodmanmd)

On episode 10 of my Pharmacy podcast, OVERxDOSE, Dr. Jake Goodman is a resident Physician specializing in Psychiatry with over 1.3 M followers across social media. I met Jake while creating my podcast and instagram (which you should totally follow). I watched how Jake utilized social media and his passion for medicine to raise mental health awareness through creative, educational, and entertaining videos on Instagram and Tik Tok. In the last year, he's amassed over 1 Million followers and at this point, millions of views/likes on his videos, and has successfully adapted at every turn of his social media journey. Learn from us which social media platform you should start on if you plan on creating content, and how to go about growing your following on instagram while maintaining professionalism and staying true to yourself and your mission.

We both came from humble beginnings, aim to promote mental health through social media, and help pre-meds and pre-pharms navigate the process of applying to school and how to maintain their sanity while going through professional school. Jake has always been an inspiration and motivation for me to keep creating and I know he will be for you too.

So it's with great honor I bring to you, my first ever video recorded episode with Dr. Jake Goodman (@jakegoodmanmd). (This was recorded September 14th, 2020 and I am just now getting to editing it due to another slump I mention early on in the interview.)

    As always, stay #Healthy💪 stay #AWARxE🥼 and don’t #OVERxDOSE💊

Ep. 9: Donate Life w/ Patti Dean, Dr. Tyler Tinkham & Mike LaPorte

Ep. 9: Donate Life w/ Patti Dean, Dr. Tyler Tinkham & Mike LaPorte

Learn about Donate Life Month and a Pharmacists' (Dr. Tyler Tinkham's)role in Solid Organ Transplants (SOT)as special co-host Mike LaPorte and I interview Patricia Dean. Patricia is a 2-time liver transplant recipient at VCUHealth and has made it her mission to clear the transplant waiting list after her life-saving surgery. To do this, she became the Community Education Coordinator at LifeNet Health, an organization providing organ, eye and tissue donation education throughout the community. Their goal is to drive every Virginian to the registry, and OVERxDOSE is more than happy to help them complete their mission by covering some of the myths surrounding organ donation. But, this isn't possible without YOU!

In honor of Donate Life Month, and with support from the Theta Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity at VCU School of Pharmacy, we're trying to make Paticria's dream a reality. Here's how you can help:

1.) Register to become a Donor in your state: https://www.donatelife.net/

2.)Send your registration confirmation email to ndlm.overxdose@gmail.com

3.) Fill out this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdYVS-JGOSpr2S3JpKmxsPxSjKRlVmpzB9NoIUcwWVmoUF8PA/viewform

If you are already registered in your state you can still enter the raffle. Just re-register and send your confirmation to that email, and fill out the survey. And if you really want to help raise #AWARxENESS on this important healthcare topic, consider sharing the episode with friends, colleagues, and family. Doing so will help to dispel some of the myths surrounding organ donation. And, if you're feeling generous, consider leaving a rating and review on what you want to hear in Part 2, when we learn even more about a pharmacist's role in SOT.

I know it's been awhile since you last heard form me, but it's good to be back and I strive to keep making this podcast something beneficial and entertaining, so keep the feedback coming. As always, stay AWARxE, stay Healthy, and don't OVERxDOSE.

    With care,
    Dvid Dent

    Ep. 7: Adapting To Covid 19 Q&A w/ Dr. Waithe (@RxRadio.fm)

    Ep. 7: Adapting To Covid 19 Q&A w/ Dr. Waithe (@RxRadio.fm)

In this episode, I got to sit down with Dr. Richard Waithe before he gave a talk on technology in Pharmacy, and personally branding to students of the Student Pharmacist Policy and Advocacy Association at VCU SOP. Before the talk we discussed how he is helping Pharmacy Schools adapt to Covid-19 by offering Virtual APPE's and he answered a few questions near the end that I think will benefit anyone trying to use social media to build a personal brand.

The Ad in the beginning is about an initiative started by the National Community Pharmacists Association that is aimed at giving patients and other healthcare professionals a united way to advocate and support legislation for increased PBM oversight. I speak a lot about the importance of advocating for your profession in this mini-series and I can't think of a better way to do that, or a better time than now.

Ep. 6: Speak Your Pharmacy Truth w/ Norman Nguyen (@thehealthcarescholar)

I got a chance to meet and talk with Norman, the content creator behind @thehealthcarescholar. He's another 2nd year pharmacy student passionate about changing the culture of healthcare, who also launched a Podcast at his school. We connected through IG, a connection I never would've made without connecting through this platform. It's all about speaking your pharmacy truth.

This is my most informal episode yet, so let me know what you think by rating the episode. If there's enough positive feedback I might do more episodes in this style. Best pharmacy podcast

I think it’s refreshing to hear from the prospective of another student. Episode 2 was fantastic, especially hearing from someone else that deals with similar issues as myself.
