Episode 43: Tips on Visualization for the Pageant Queen

Episode 43: Tips on Visualization for the Pageant Queen

Welcome to my latest episode of "Pageant Journeys w/Alabama Sr. America"! I noticed that I have had almost 300 plays of my Podcast and listeners from 8 countries plus the USA! Fabulous! I hope that you will leave a comment, continue following and listening and be blessed by my podcast! This week is about VISUALIZATION - using your mind to "see" your goal in order to achieve it.

    Positive Visualization

In order to achieve the type of success you want in life, you must VISUALIZE IT! In other words, – see it as it happens – wear the CROWN as if you already had it. You must be able to ask and answer the following questions: a) What do you want out of this pageant? Scholarship money for school, make friends, advance your cause or platform or do you shoot for a bigger fish – a national title and the money that comes with it?; b) Do you know the competition and are not worried because you are better than the rest? NEVER assume that you are so good that you do not have to STUDY the ones you compete against. Like any good sportswoman (and believe me, pageantry is the Super bowl for women) PREPARE for the game by studying your opponents. If you know their strengths and weaknesses, YOU stay ahead of them in the minefield of life; c) What is your end goal for being here? What do you plan to achieve? Do you have a “Master” plan to the crown? (Excerpt from my book "The Beauty Queen's Little Instruction Book"!

Episode 42: Get Ready, Get Set, One year to go to Senior America

Episode 42: Get Ready, Get Set, One year to go to Senior America

The Pandemic put the breaks on a lot of things... Sports activities, family gatherings, but most of all for those of us who love competition - Pageants! This weekend we would have all been flying, driving, traveling in one fashion or another to the 41st Annual Senior America Pageant for 2020. Its been moved now to 2021 due to concerns about health, families and more. Its not too late for you to apply if you would like to join our Sisterhood of Queens and celebrate the "Age of Elegance" as we approach another stellar moment in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Our reigning Queen, Esmeralda Ybarra Hetrick, has done a wonderful job encouraging and promoting Sr. America and all her "Sister-Queens" during this time of crisis.

This week's second podcast features a Civil Rights Icon from The Montgomery Bus Boycott of the 50's - The Rev. Dr. Robert S. Greatz. I am including the link from the New York Times that featured his obit below. Dr. Greatz and his wife have been staples in the Montgomery community for decades.

Episode 39: RBG, CDM and Pageant Tips for life

Episode 39: RBG, CDM and Pageant Tips for life

This week a beloved and inspiring woman passed into history and the response to her passing showed just how much she was loved. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer, one fought long and hard, that inspires the rest of us "to keep it moving"! This is also the day before my son's birthday! He turns 31 tomorrow and I remind him every year how long my labor took. He just laughs. My topic for today focuses on pageant tips for the "young" beauty queen but I add key points for the Senior Beauty. You'll have to listen to find out what they are. Enjoy!

Episode 38: "Mustang Sally", Pageantry and The Mask Debate

Episode 38: "Mustang Sally", Pageantry and The Mask Debate

What would life in the South be without an impending Hurricane at least every two weeks. Well, here comes Hurricane Sally to make her mark on an already difficult year.  I am happy to also announce that I am in the recent issue of Pageantry Magazine on page 58 - upper left corner! Also as today is September 15th, I want to tell anyone contemplating throwing their masks away.... Just don't do it. The battle with COVID is not done until we have a vaccine.
