Palm Sunday – The Donkey - Video The Living Cornerstone

    • Christianity

Palm Sunday gets its name from the palm branches that were thrown on the ground as Jesus entered Jerusalem for Passover. But, the meaning of Palm Sunday goes much deeper than palm branches. It was the last few days that Jesus would be alive on earth in His human body. He was coming to Passover riding a donkey. A donkey was an animal of peace and also was an unclean animal. An animal in scripture that could be redeemed only with the sacrifice of a spotless lamb, or its neck had to be broken, killing it.
You can’t help but see the comparison of Jesus riding an unclean animal that was taking Him into Jerusalem to be sacrificed for all of us, unclean ourselves, except for the sacrifice of Jesus. Behold, the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. This takes a look at Jesus and the donkey.
