Partially Proficient, but Totally Accurate

Thank you, Colby and Alaina, for showing what real life is like as an educator. I’ve listened to the first three episodes, and I have found myself feeling so connected to their stories. Validation, new ideas, and different perspectives are words that come to mind while listening. Please continue your shows and don’t feel the need to apologize to the audience for being real and vulnerable!

Me Too

I listened to the first episode of Partially Proficient the evening before starting the school year & I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say, "me too," Alaina. I ruin teaching for myself through the constant overthinking, second-guessing, & not feeling like enough. I didn't have the words to express this before I listened to you. As I was preparing to walk into school to begin our preparations for welcoming our students back, I am hopeful I can keep a balance too. That I can be mindful of how much I love my students & am rooting for them, & at the end of the day that is what I want to stick with them. I loved your podcast! Thank you so much, Colby & Alaina, for taking the time out of your very, very busy schedule to continue to give to other educators. Thank you for saying yes to investing in others so we all feel less alone & this hard world becomes less scary. You are both such inspiring teachers & human beings. And I don't think 40 minutes is too long at all! 😊

Partially Proficient

I’ve enjoyed the first two episodes of Colby and Alena’s “Partially Proficient” Podcast. I felt as though I was sitting in their living listening to them steal a few minutes together to talk and enjoy one another’s company. This past episode (#2) really made me smile ☺️ and think 🤔 about embracing Alena’s one word, “okay-ist.” Hearing her describe its meaning really resonated with me. I agree with her and I am joining her on her “okay-ist” journey. 👌 Being an “okay-ist” is all about giving yourself permission to continue to try new things and not to put pressure on yourself for it to be perfect or amazing right away- but to be happy if it is good... or okay. By allowing myself to do that I can continue to try new things as I embark on my 30th year as an educator. Thank you both for inviting us into your home once a week. I am looking forward to today’s podcast. You are truly one, “Sharp” couple. Thank you! ☺️
