Passing The Bar Podcast is a podcast created by bartenders for bartenders… and honestly everyone in between! We speak on the ups, the downs and the social issues that we face in the industry from an inside perspective.
S2Ep5. A Mental Health Check with Sunrise Counseling
Mental health is something that we need to talk about more. With recent tragedies in our community we felt moved to make a series surrounding just this very topic. We have an opportunity to hear from Katie of Sunrise Counseling and Psychological Services, Brandon Liburd (DJ Be Eezy), Evan and myself on the personal journeys that brought us to this point. I appreciate the space to speak to you freely about some situations that I've death with and hope that in this episode you find comfort in this groups vulnerability.
Strap in, we're going in on our first instillation of our mental health series.
S2Ep4. Always Bet On The Underdog w/ Evan Vang!
Well ladies and gentlemen, grab those oh shit handles, strap in and prepare for an episode from us like you've never experienced! It's time to take the "governor off", get down to the raw truth and unmask some SERIOUS social issues in our community.
This week we have an opportunity to hear two amazing underdog stories about personal mental health journeys and perseverance through all odds. Evan Vang, Regional Manager for Boil Bay and now new operator of Bottlecraft Virginia Beach located in Hilltop, drops in to give us an overview and update on all the MAJOR news from his neck of the woods. We're also joined by ex bartender, comedian and fight promoter Kevin Bianchi Jr.! Who drops some hilarious, informative and big news that we are exclusively airing for YOU!
In the wake of the tragic loss of one of our most talented local musicians and great friend of the community, we all bare our souls for the world to listen to in this episode. We've got some amazing things in the works for our community and plan on breaking the stigma behind understanding mental health this season. Be on the lookout for more information on the next episode!
Now hold on tight, because this is about to get real.
S2Ep3 - Standing Up For Kids w/ Nicole!
Welcome back guys! This week we are in the studio with Nicole, the Co-Executive Director for Stand Up for Kids - Hampton Roads! In this episode we catch up about some of the difficulties that they've been having through this pandemic and also different plans of action that have helped them succeed at helping our local at risk youth. If you guys remember, we did a coat drive last January before the pandemic hit we were able to raise over 400 coats! Take some time and sit back to take all of this information in, it's a great conversation amongst us guys and Nicole! I look forward to volunteering/collaborating with Stand Up for Kids - Hampton Roads in the future again!
S2Ep2 - No Karen w/ Justin Snyder!
During this episode we touch base with first season's guest Justin Snyder for updates! We cover the pandemic and some of the hardships of still slinging from the front lines!
S2Ep1 - We're Back!
We understand, this pandemic has been a complete shit show. We figured it would be a perfect time to interject some comedy in your week to week! We're so happy to be back! Join us for Season 2 starting right now!
Ep28. The State of the "Service" Industry
It’s been wayyy too long so we made a special trip back to the studio for a episode that’s near and dear to our hearts! It’s our #stateoftheindustry sit down to cover some of the issues that we’ve all been dealing with and a little light comedy to help move your spirits right along.
I love inside the industry behind the scene podcasts like this and being from that background live vicariously through this podcast. This one is a winner!
