Producers: Twin Paskoffs - Andrew & Scott -Comedy, Coming Out, Creating Content during Covid 🎬
"Go the agency route... we have a no a*****e policy... just be yourself... " Great quotes from the Twins Paskoff! #producers #showbiz #skysthelimit #connections #passiontopower 😁 Andrew is Scott's older brother by 8 minutes. They finish each other's sentences, support each other's goals and promote family. Each twin dad has 2 kids. They talk about the scripted vs unscripted worlds- being EP's - one straight and one gay. These two grew up in Massapequa LI and landed in Hollywood as 23 year olds- eager to make sitcoms - and they each got busy in their lanes of development and production; Andrew is now EVP at 44 Blue and has several shows in production. Scott is excited about the "flashing yellow" lights aiming at his original content. Check out their credits on IMDB and enjoy their New York energy, and their advice. Ps that is an original Al Hirschfeld ink art piece of them! Their mom and dad both loved Hirschfeld and his famous caricatures.
Dance Agent Julie McDonald - Pioneering and Persevering
Julie McDonald is co-owner of McDonald Selznick Associates (MSA). She is the pioneer in the field of dance and choreography representation, having formed the first talent agency in 1985 devoted exclusively to dance.
Ballerina Feminist - Ashley Bouder is "loud," she has a big jump, and she speaks up!
Grace, gumption and courage! Ashley Bouder 🩰 is an American ballet dancer who is currently a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. She also founded and runs her own collective, The Ashley Bouder Project. Now she can add "author" to her list of accomplishments with a children's book called "Welcome to Ballet School."
Marisa Levy, "The Golden Age of Content" Unscripted TV Creator 🎬
Marisa Levy has blue hair, bright eyes and a magnetism that draws you in immediately. Over Zoom, we talked about her background as a Texas girl who moved to the Netherlands, then India and South Africa. She had camera pack in hand, and an adventurous spirit. Speaking "a little bit of a lot of languages," and with impressive degrees, scholarships and grants under her belt, Marisa set out to make "bleeding heart" documentaries and ended up in DC, New York and Hollywood. Television was the end goal.
🎤 Marisa has a range of experience in the field and behind the executive desk at networks. She's worked most recently at BET for Viacom/CBS, and before that at MTV and Vh1 on the east coast; Being able to produce content that isn't necessarily of her own demographic, is a challenge she embraces. Whether working for Bravo , "the I wish network" or TLC "I could be friends with that person" network, she creates shows for a range of audiences. Her world travels have equipped her with an open mind and a unique lens to green-light unscripted content.
She's been called a programming "badass" by her peers in television development. She has respect and affection for her mentors, and shouts out especially to Rita Mullins for being one of the best managers ever, her mentor and the person who taught her about "this thing called development."
Michelle Zeitlin, host and producer is delighted to share another riveting conversation about the making of television content, and how to get there; proving that there is no singular definitive trajectory on your Yellow Brick Road to Success.
Marisa Levy's wrap up: "work hard, follow your passion., and opportunity will find you!"
