Pathwork is a body of practical spiritual wisdom that offers an exhilarating journey of personal transformation and wholeness down to the very core of ones being. It’s both vast and subtle, so any summary can be no more than a bare bones description. But three primary aspects are:

1. Self-awareness: We strive to know ourselves completely, to see ourselves without flattering illusions, and especially to make the unconscious conscious. Unconscious beliefs are more powerful than conscious ones, because we can’t examine them, see their irrationality, or change them.

2. Self-acceptance: We take a matter of fact approach to our own development. We are flawed human beings who still have much to learn and there is no shame in that. Real change takes time and effort, and beating ourselves up because we are not already further along is counter-productive.

3. Self-responsibility: Our lives are our own creations and over the long run, there is perfect justice. There are no victims. While this may seem like a bitter pill at first, it ultimately frees us to create the life of our dreams. The Pathwork Guide teaches that consciousness is the most powerful force in the universe, and it is our consciousness that shapes our lives.

PL 1 The Sea of Life

PL 1 The Sea of Life

Spiritual material resembles threads, fine, ray-like threads—in this case of somber color and texture—which are spun, knotted, and entangled, until there is such a tight ball of confusion that one can disentangle it only with the greatest difficulty. . . . it takes a great deal of effort to find the truth at all.

    PL 2 Decisions and Tests

    PL 2 Decisions and Tests

[W]hen you understand that this life is one of many learning periods, one link in a long chain, you will at first sense and later comprehend more and more fully the connections. Then your goal will no longer be immediate happiness through the fulfillment of every single wish in this existence. You will instead direct…

PL 3 Choosing Your Destiny—The Will to Change

PL 3 Choosing Your Destiny—The Will to Change

So it is important for you, my dear ones, to recognize that many of the events in your life which seem to repeat themselves were chosen and planned by you when you still had your wider vision, before matter enveloped your spirit. It will be helpful for you to know this. A very ambitious spirit…

    PL 4 World Weariness

    PL 4 World Weariness

T]here are a variety of possible causes for world weariness. Of course the yearning for God and perfection plays a role here too whether consciously or not, as well as the nostalgia for one’s true spiritual home that dwells in every human being. For here on earth you are only visitors, it is not your…

PL 5 Happiness for Yourself or Happiness as a Link in the Chain of Life

PL 5 Happiness for Yourself or Happiness as a Link in the Chain of Life

How far along is any individual in this respect? Is anyone willing to give something up for the sake of another? Ask yourself: “Do I want happiness for my own sake, or is this the second consideration?” Can you address God and say, “Of course I cannot fool you, just as I cannot fool myself.…

PL 6 The Human Role in the Spiritual and Material Universes

PL 6 The Human Role in the Spiritual and Material Universes

I have said it before, but I want to repeat it: Every human being, not only a medium, can and should have personal contact with God’s world. Everybody can have it! But the conditions have to be met. When God’s spirits speak to you through a medium, they never want to turn you into some…

Pathwork Lectures in Context of Sacred Texts

I just completed listening to Professor Grant Hardy’s Sacred Texts of the World (18 hour course on Great Courses — Audible). For me Professor Grants course put the wisdom of the Pathwork in perspective and context. Certainly this body of Pathwork wisdom — over 200 hours in this podcast — constitutes being a worthy sacred text — for me it has been very practical yet understandably challenging — a guide to our highest qualities, our path to God.
