The Payton Lectures are hosted by the School of Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary. Instituted in 1948, they are a series of annual divinity lectures by a prominent scholar outside the regular faculty. The scholar is asked to address one of the following three areas: the uniqueness or confirmation of the historic Christian faith; the confutation of non-Christian or sub-Christian views; the formulation of biblical doctrines. Lectures are to be made available to the entire Fuller community. The lectureship is named for Dr. John E. and Mrs. Eliza Payton, parents of the late Mrs. Grace Fuller, wife of Charles E. Fuller, founder of the seminary.

Speaking at the Spring Payton Lectures was Ellen F. Davis, the Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at Duke Divinity School.
