Millie De Chirico is a writer, film & tv historian, and the former chief programmer for TCM Underground. Her latest book, TCM Underground: 50 Must-See Films from the World of Classic Cult and Late-Night Cinema (co-authored with Quatoyiah Murry and foreword by Patton Oswalt) explores gritty and eccentric cinema from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The book goes beyond simple reviews and dissects each film from each respective author's unique perspective. In this interview we discuss working with a co-author, introducing films to new audiences, and (my favorite) melodramas.

A creative kick in the pants.

If Liz thinks they're cool, they are cool. She has a knack for finding really awesome and passionate independent artists and creative people and capturing their stories. She asks all the questions you would want to ask and then some. And the fact that she is a super cool artist too doesn't hurt! This podcast has become a real source of inspiration and motivation for my own creative endeavors.

Podcast That I Think Is Cool

One of my go-to podcasts for sure. I really appreciate the wide variety of personalities & art appreciation that you can find on Liz's show. Not just a love-fest, but a proper conversation into the whys of the whos involved. I listen every week & encourage you to do the same.

Quality audio programming

You hear the theme song and think “Okay, this is the best theme song ever, no way the podcast can live up to it” but then the show starts and it does. It lives up to and expertly surpasses all expectations. No matter the topic or the interviewees area of expertise, Liz does an amazing job of creating engaging and absorbing conversation. A must listen.
