We discuss the organizational challenges, realities, and funny happenings in the weird world of working humans. This is not a podcast about work, but rather about humans at work and the incredible teams and people who (sometimes) swoop in to save the day. We’ll say some unpopular things, keep it real, and do everything we can to remind the world that Human Resources people are people, too. #notHR

    091 - HR's Bastard Step Child

Learning & Development is often secondary, nay tertiary, to the ‘sexier’ HR functions like Talent and Recruitment, or the more task-oriented ‘must-haves’ like Compensation. Alexa and Tyson are on a mission to fix that little miscarriage of HR justice in this one. Joined by Matt Gjertsen, former Air Force Pilot and pilot trainer turned Chief Learning Officer, they tackle the best practices for designing learning, how to combine subject experts with good educators; common pitfalls of L&D organizations, and exactly how the fall of Rome leads us to modern day L&D. Let’s get educated fam.

088 - Follow the (Servant) Leader

Alexa and Tyson are joined by Ivan Quiroz - the multi-time demotee turned always optimistic retail manager extraordinaire, servant leader evangelist, and current VP of Operations at 2020 Onsite - to discuss exactly what servant leadership methodology is and how to use it. Refreshing

Honest and transparent communication isn’t that common in HR. This show is a breath of fresh air.

Love the honesty!

Alexa and Tyson and beautifully honest with their opinions and it is so refreshing (it also helps that they are genuinely good people). I’ve always had an interest in HR and I love getting the inside look at what HR departments deal with.

For the Toby Flendersons

I follow hr.shook on IG and TikTok! I die at all their memes, polls, and their podcast episodes because they are SO relatable. It’s very niche for those in HR but for a department that gets so much hate and has so many weird stereotypes (HR is not your friend, HR only cares about the company, it’s HR’s fault, etc.), it feels so refreshing to hear shared experiences, frustrations, and annoyances from people that really know what actually goes into this profession!
