    Like everyone, Jim was once a kid with a dream. In our discussion we chatted about Jim’s humble beginnings in Glasgow, his time touring the world as a drummer for Paolo Nutini, and his love of Dolly Parton.

    Joining me on the second episode of "People Say" is acclaimed songwriter and artist Ed Harcourt! With 9 studio records and a Mercury Music prize nomination under his belt, Ed has composed film scores, toured with the likes of REM, Wilco and Snow Patrol and performed with everyone from Patti Smith to Nick Cave. His musical resume is littered with co-writing credits that include the likes of Paloma Faith, James Bay, Lisa-Marie Presley, and Marianne Faithfull just to name a few. He’s also played some piano for Lana Del Rey and produced Sophie Ellis-Bextor among many others. And most importantly, Ed co-wrote two songs on my album including "I Can't Give You What You Want" and a personal favorite called "21," which is set to be released in December!

    We chatted about growing up with a father in the military, writing songs while acting as his aunt’s caretaker, abusing journalists, the benefits (and pitfalls) of signing to a major label plus how you need the drive and hunger to succeed in this business.

    Joining me on the first ever episode is James Stelfox, the talented bassist of the British rock band Starsailor. Since they formed in 2000, Starsailor has had 10 top 40 hits in the UK singles charts. Their debut LP “Love is Here”  went platinum in the UK. They have sold 3.5 million records to date. They’ve opened for the likes of the Rolling Stones and the Killers, and performed on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. 

    We talked about childhood, falling in love with the bass guitar, Beatles Producer Phil Spector, Coldplay, playing bass on my album and how you need to have an obsessive drive to make it in the music industry.
