    PNM#11 - Jami Johnson

    Jami Johnson is a Medical Science Liaison for BTG Specialty Pharmaceuticals and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy. Prior to her move to industry, she was the Assistant Managing Director of the Oklahoma Center for Poison and Drug Information.  She completed undergraduate coursework at the University of Oklahoma in Norman prior to completing the Doctorate of Pharmacy Program at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy.  Dr. Johnson worked as a Poison Information Provider at the OCPDI while completing her PharmD, which initially sparked her interest in toxicology.  After graduation, she completed the Clinical Toxicology and Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program at UFHealth-Jacksonville and the Florida Poison Information Center-Jacksonville.  Upon completion of her fellowship, she obtained certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Applied Toxicology. When she isn’t MSLing, she enjoys donating her time to various professional organizations, most recently joining the ABAT NACCT 2019 Symposium committee and participating in AACT’s Clinical Toxicology Recommendations Collaborative Activated Charcoal project on the systematic review committee and clinical recommendations panel. She is dedicated to continued professional improvement and growth, mostly recently joining the OU Health Sciences Center’s 2019 Leadership Council.

    Her professional interests include critical care with an emphasis on cardiotoxicity, and natural toxins, especially venomous snakes. Her personal interests include avoiding the aforementioned natural toxins in the wild and spending time with her friends and family.

    Athena Cannon is a current Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Resident at the University of Minnesota. She was born and raised in Texas. She completed her pharmacy prerequisites at the University of Texas at Arlington and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Abilene, Texas in 2020.    

    Throughout her pharmacy program, Athena was involved in Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS), Phi Delta Chi (PDC), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) locally and nationally involved with the ACCP Endocrine and Metabolism Healthcare Committee.    

    Early on in her pharmacy career, Athena was curious about the role of pharmacists in sports medicine and antidoping. Throughout the years, she has worked with and learned from professionals in sports medicine on the collegiate and elite level and has served as the first pharmacy intern for the U.S Antidoping Agency. 

    During her fourth year of pharmacy school, Athena helped create a sports medicine elective APPE with Texas Tech University.    Athena’s over-arching passion in pharmacy lies in ambulatory care and nutrition and lifestyle education with a hope to continue to grow her knowledge and impact in sports medicine and anti-doping.

    PNM#8 - Robert Pugliese

    Robert S. Pugliese is Director of Innovation Design at Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health where he co-founded the Health Design Lab, a creative space built with the purpose of merging together design-studio ethos with the science-oriented discipline to foster innovation in healthcare. As somebody who enjoys empowering future health care providers to be change-makers, Robert leads programs that train students to be health design thinkers and innovators. A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Robert has spent over ten years practicing and teaching in Emergency Medicine. He believes that including both the patient and provider voice is vital to healthcare design, and he brings each of these perspectives to his work through his experience as a clinician and through his own journey coping with insulin-dependent diabetes.

    Robert has presented on the intersection of healthcare and design at national venues such as SXSW and Stanford Medicine X. In 2019, Robert was selected as a Philadelphia Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree.

    Nadia Awad, PharmD, BCPS (@Nadia_EMPharmD) is an emergency medicine pharmacist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers College in 2007, and earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University in 2011, she completed two years of post-graduate residency training at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, specializing in emergency medicine pharmacy. She is board certified in pharmacotherapy. In addition, she is the associate editor and staff blogger of the blog, Emergency Medicine PharmD (http://empharmd.blogspot.com), and she has authored over 70 educational entries related to the application of pharmacotherapy in the emergency department.
