"Following Sisyphus" by Ryan B. West Hills Friends

Ryan reflected on his spiritual path, and the Albert Camus essay, The Myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus is the Greek figure who spends his life pushing a boulder up a mountain, a metaphor for the seemingly absurdity of life. At the end of the essay, Camus writes, "The struggle itself ... is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy." Ryan concludes that he too is determined to find a way to be happy while rolling a boulder up a mountain. His queries were: What parts of yourself feel too difficult to change? What would you gain if you changed? What would you lose? Have you ever surprised yourself with overcoming something in yourself?
