Welcome back to the Girls on the Sideline pod! Are you over your football hangover yet? This week, the girls chat about where their hearts and minds are after the crazy football season ends as well as a “grab bag” of hot discussions, interesting new changes, and surprising new rules happening in the world of sports.
The girls discuss what interesting things Lindsay has learned after attending the Business of Sports conference, hosted by the Sports Business Journal and what fans may be able to start looking forward to at next season’s games. Additionally, they share their thoughts on some of the hilarious, ridiculous, and even embarrassing social media posts being shared by players, coaches, and others in professional sports.
 
“What’s a good dick pick amongst friends?” – Lindsay Grinstead
 
Highlights of Today’s Episode:
What Tampa professional sports leagues are discussing to improve the fan experience – at home and at the stadium. How political stances and President Trump’s views could impact the international sports economy – and the world of sports in general – at the global level. Christie Rampone officially retires from the United States Women’s National Soccer Team at the age of 41! The NBA’s new social media protocol and New York Knicks’ General Manager, Phil Jackson’s negative tweets about his star player. Dallas Stars, National Predators, and other national sports leagues ridiculous and hilarious tweets with the Cleveland Indians. The law suit being brought to the NFL regarding 1800 former NFL players claiming they were “encouraged” by their team doctors to abuse pain killers. UCONN Women’s Basketball Team playing for their 100th winning streak.  
Lindsay’s MVP & LVP of the Week:
This week’s MVP awards goes to – Ketchup giant Kraft-Heinz gives their employees the day off after the Super Bowl in lieu of airing a multi-million-dollar commercial during the game as well as Whitney’s amazing dog, Saben, who recently passed away but will always remain as our MVP dog in sports.  
Whitney’s MVP & LVP of the Week:
This week’s MVP award goes to – The boys on the 5th grade Youth Basketball team in Clark, New Jersey for taking a stand against the unfair new rule by the Youth Organization regarding girls playing on their team as well as Shaquille O’Neil for consistently showing support and pride in LSU, his college basketball team. This week’s LVP award goes to – The Youth Organization in Clark, NJ for telling the coaches and 5th grade team that they couldn’t finish the season if they kept two girls on the team and they’d forfeit their record!
