217 | Read Me, Sis! (Part Two): The Martyr Complex The Black Girl Bravado

    • Health & Fitness

Martyrs are known for sacrifice. Many of us sacrifice our time, energy and mental health by putting other people's needs above our own. Maybe you're putting more effort into the relationship than your partner is. Maybe you told your boss you can handle an extra project when your plate is already full. Perhaps you don't want to say no and cause disappointment, or you're hyper-independent and want to appear capable of handling all tasks thrown your way... If you feel like your needs are always coming in second place, you may have a martyr complex.
Say it with us: "When I pour into myself, I can shine my light onto others.”

Last week, we began reading y'all by talking about the I'll Feel Better When cycle. You'll feel better after tapping in to this episode: https://stream.redcircle.com/episodes/45171684-73eb-47b4-bfe9-ab7c41019ac5/stream.mp3
