Abstract: 
The Wine Market Council (WMC) provides wine market knowledge, trends, insights, and intelligence essential to all tiers of the wine industry. During this session, leading industry analyst and WMC Research Committee member Danny Brager will present an in-depth analysis of the biggest trends currently shaping the US retail wine market. These data-driven trends provide a unique insight into American retail habits, enabling Italian producers to understand evolving tastes, preferences, demographics and price points, all with the overriding objective of helping them to understand consumer behavior across the US retail market. The retail sector is dynamic and constantly evolving, and staying up to date with the latest trends and consumer preferences is vital for anyone with an interest in the market.

Co-Moderator - Scott Thomas
Scott Thomas has an extensive twenty-year career in the wine industry, with roles as a sommelier, in distribution and sales management, and education. He is the founder of Grappolo Wine School in Denver, which offers immersive wine travel, wine events, and structured courses, including the VIA's Italian Wine Maestro certification. In addition, he’s the wine director at Restaurant Olivia, a mighty pasta-focused concept with an Italian-heavy wine list. 
Scott's professional credentials include Italian Wine Ambassador, Italian Wine educator, and Certified Wine Educator. Additionally, he is an official Orvieto Ambassador and Langhe Wine Ambassador. His passion for Italian wines grew during his two years in Piedmont and Tuscany, where he earned a Master's degree in Wine Culture from Slow Food's University of Gastronomic Sciences and gained practical experience in the vineyards of Chianti Classico.

Elisabetta Fagiuoli has a spirituality about her that is present in her wines. She is the owner of Montenidoli in the San Gimignano region of Chianti, Tuscany. Montenidoli means "the mountain of the little nests" and it is comprised of 26 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 200 hectares of woodlands.
The property which she owned with her late companion Sergio was brought under vine in 1965, and at the time was abandoned wilderness. Located on the top of hills, the farm is remote and has spectacular vistas of the Chianti hillsides. There is a profound respect of the vineyard and the land which is clearly present in the winemaking at Montenidoli. (Credit Grape Collective)
Alessio Cecchini is a young, florentine-based winemaker. Working beside Elisabetta since 2019.
He’s been traveling all over the world, making wines in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Burgundy and Montalcino before settling at Montenidoli. His studies were focused on concrete fermentations of Sangiovese and biodynamic farming.
Today he supervises the winemaking process and travels the world as an ambassador for Montenidoli.

Cynthia is a wine writer, a judge at international wine and sake competitions, she consults with restaurants and enotecas developing comprehensive wine lists and food pairings, and she advises clients who want to curate an Italian wine collection. The Fongaro Winery was born in 1975 from the passion and commitment of its founder, Guerrino Fongaro. Since the beginning the founder’s strongly believed in the cultivation of an native Veronese grape variety: Durella. The name of the grape also gives the name to the type of wine developed: Durella the grape, Durello the wine. The Durella is one of the oldest and most typical vines of the Lessini Mountains, area where the company stands. The winery is located in Roncà (province of Verona) and is part of the Lessinia National Park where an extinct volcanos left us a fantastic soil structure composed of basalt. In 1975 the Fongaro Winery decided to focus its activity on the exclusive production of Classic Method Sparkling Wines. The use of this grape variety (Durella) with particular characteristics, enhanced in the sparkling process, and the long skilled experience made it possible today to offer a unique and unmistakable product in the panorama of Traditional Method Sparkling Wines. An added value to our Spumante was the advance of the times’ choice, since 1985, to embrace the principles of organic agriculture, becoming one of the first organic winery in the Veneto region. This style of production once again underlines the respect and love for the land, and also guarantees high standards of the product’s quality.To date, the management of the company has passed into the hands of Tanita Danese, a young agriculturist and oenologist who has long been linked to the Fongaro family. With her skills and experience, she is expanding the vision of the winery, inextricably linking tradition and innovation.

Marc Millon, VIA Italian Wine Ambassador 2021, has been travelling, eating, drinking, learning and writing about wine, food and travel for nearly 40 years. Born in Mexico, with a mother from Hawaii via Korea and an anthropologist father from New York via Paris, he was weaned on exotic and delicious foods. Marc and his photographer wife Kim are the authors of 14 books including a pioneering series of illustrated wine-food-travel books: The Wine Roads of Europe, The Wine Roads of France, The Wine Roads of Italy (Premio Barbi Colombini), and The Wine Roads of Spain. Other titles include The Wine and Food of Europe, The Food Lovers’ Companion Italy, The Food Lovers’ Companion France, Wine, a global history. In 1983, after living in Burgundy for five years, he launched the Wine International magazine; set up the International Wine Challenge; became a wine writer for the Sunday Telegraph, and wrote The Wine Lists, the first of his 25 books. He has chaired and launched over 50 wine competitions in Asia, Europe and the UK. Robert has been in Who’s Who since 2013, and the awards he has received include the Jacob’s Creek ‘Golden Vine’; ‘the Best Wine Guide in the World’; the Glenfiddich (twice); The Wine Guild of the United Kingdom Premier; the Marques de Caceres. He regularly appears on television and radio and has lectured at the Wine & Spirits Educational Trust, Burgundy and Sonoma Wine Business Schools. During her tenure at C&P, Juliana led the development of the California office, growing the agency’s domestic presence to a dedicated office of 15 people with representation of leading wine companies such as Jackson Family Wines, Far Niente, Charles Krug Winery, Foley Family Wines and more.
