More about today’s winery - Tornatore Winery
The company's agricultural activity is based on the ownership and direct control of a joint-stock company which owns 60 ha of land located in the Castiglione di Sicilia countryside and another 40 ha held directly. Approximately 46 ha of land are cultivated with vineyards, 8 ha with olive groves and 5 ha with hazelnut groves, the rest is being reconverted; for this reason, today the Tornatore company owns the largest vineyard within the Etna Doc production area. By extension, the vineyards of the Tornatore company today constitute the largest Etna DOC vineyard in the production area. There are various districts affected by the company's vineyards: among these the prestigious districts of Crasà, Pietrarizzo, Malpasso, Pietramarina, Torre Guarino, Carranco and Trimarchisa, all in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia. The altitude varies from 550 to 700 m above sea level and the age varies from 5 to 45 years for reds and 5 years for whites.

Passito wines represent a niche production in the Italian wine sector, they are often consumed only on special occasions or during family meals when they are typically combined with the dessert course. Seven women producers from all over Italy will join us for this series, to discuss their Passito wines and recommend the perfect pairing with a typical Christmas dish from their region, sharing personal memories linked to the Christmas holidays and wine.

Podcast

Great interviews!!
You should talk about other opportunities in the wine industry besides winemakers.
I handle the TTB international side and it can be a challenge and never dull

Laytony10 ,

Love Monty’s personality and of course Italian Wine

Monty’s personality is fantastic. Funny, very knowledgeable. He’s very witty with the all winemakers or owners of the vineyard that makes the interview so engaging. This is fantastic listen! If you love wine and like a little humor on a dry topic ;) you will absolutely love this, especially if you love Italian wine!

Palm Springs Sommelier ,

Insightful and entertaining

Informative and nuanced, Monty approaches each interview with a keen interest in showcasing the best producers that articulate the special qualities of each regional wine found throughout Italy. Truly unique and a must listen for anyone interested in furthering their Italian wine knowledge.
