Ep. 42 - Genesis - Chapters 3&4 - The Fall and the First Murder Adorned Podcast

    • Christianity

On this week’s episode we discuss chapter 3 and the first part of chapter 4 of Genesis.  These are some difficult stories that are sometimes hard to process.  Satan enters the picture, the beginning of sin, Adam and Eve are cast out of the garden, and the first murder is committed. But even in what seems to be such a hopeless situation, God is giving us glimpses into His plan to send a redeemer.  He is so loving, gracious, and merciful to pursue His children even when we run from Him time and time again!

Quotes:

“Adam and Eve were created to reflect God, but they chose to rival him.” -Jen Wilkin

“If sin is lawlessness, then righteousness is lawfulness.”

“How much joy for the creator if what he’s created finds joy in what He created them to do and to not do.”

“Sin is any failure to conform to the moral law of God in act attitude or nature.” -Systematic Theology, Grudem

“Sin is doing what god’s word forbids or not doing what god’s word commands, in act, attitude or nature.”

“If we don’t understand the depth of the bad news, the good news isn’t going to seem as great.”

“This chapter, as doom and gloom as it is, forces us to accept the fact that we are broken and we are sinful, and we need a savior.”

“When God asks where are you? “This was not the voice of the policeman but the call of yearning love. Dark as is the background here it only serves more clearly to reveal the riches of god’s grace.” -A.W. Pink

“Even when it’s our sin, God is the one stepping in to make a way.”

“Without the fall, we wouldn’t see the beauty of grace in the same way.”
