She is passionate about empowering her clients to leap beyond patterns of fear, uncertainty, emotional overwhelm, and physical pain. My sister, Eydie, joins me today to share her inspiring and unique story of what she and her family went through when they chose open adoption. We discuss the open adoption process as well as how she and her family - including her daughter’s birth mother, Kim - broke the social taboos on adoption as they all continue to pursue a healthy relationship built on trust, openness, and love. We also discuss the incredible story of how Eydie and Kim worked together during Sage’s birth as well as the astonishing backstories that led Sage to be comfortable in disclosing that she’s adopted.

This week on Relationships! Let’s Talk About It:

The story of Eydie’s daughter, Sage, being a bride’s maid at her birth mother’s wedding. What an open adoption is and why Eydie and her husband chose this option. Why she embraced the idea of open adoption instead of struggling with it as many adoptive mothers often do. How she found out about the adoption agency and the process of open adoption. Why Eydie refused to cut the umbilical cord and the symbolic meaning of this gesture. Kim’s biggest wish for her baby. How Eydie supported my wife and me on the death of our baby. How Eydie started to be a spokesperson for The Cradle as she talks about open adoption. How Sage’s story is different from adoption stories that are filled with shame, anger, and pain. How Eydie’s parents showed their intention to protect her heart.
