Faith when we're younger and talking to God is just "please do this and please do that" really doesn't cut it when you're a grown up. You need a relationship - after all, that's the whole point of salvation. A relationship with God. But how can you have a relationship if you don't even know how to communicate??
Prayer is so much more than reciting familiar prayers from mass, it's TWO way communication and it's something that has to be practiced all the time. Just like you'll loose touch with a friend if you don't put effort into checking in, the same goes for God!
