This was recorded at dawn on the Summer Solstice at the edge of a large meadow in the Medicine Lake Highlands area of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Siskiyou County, California. It was a brisk mountain morning, and though it was the first official morning of summer, a light frost had settled upon the meadow, while lingering patches of snow dotted the dense surrounding forest.
