96 - Byron Brooks - Co-Founder, Brookwright Developments The Explore84 Podcast

    • Self-Improvement

Today on The Kondrat Podcast, I sat down with Byron Brooks, Co-Founder of Brookwright Developments. While connecting with some local craft breweries, Byron noticed that they had a more collaborative way of doing business.  We discuss how Byron is bringing the  “collaboration over competition” mindset from the beer community to the construction industry.
Bryon has been in the construction industry for over two decades and has built a reputation of building high-quality custom homes that focus on “craft” rather than “commodity”.  When talking about how long he’s been in construction Byron jokes, “I’ve been in construction since my high school principal invited me to leave school a couple of months early” - and he’s never looked back!
We discuss some of the challenges that face the construction industry.  COVID-19 is the obvious one that they have to deal with.  Byron also points out other challenges that he hopes to change such as the industry's reluctance to invest meaningfully into research and development.
In his effort to make the industry more collaborative, Byron has created an event series called Builders and Brews.  “Our mission is to make the homebuilding industry better through education, collaboration, and giving back to our communities.”
Byron is working hard to make a positive impact in his community - I hope you enjoy our surprisingly interesting conversation.
