Today on The Kondrat Podcast, I sat down with James Desautels, a 2021 Mayoral Candidate in Calgary, Alberta. James is a born and raised Calgary and a professional musician who has toured and performed in over 40 countries across the globe. As mayor, his mandate is to support small businesses and create a culturally vibrant city.
On the podcast we discuss James’ passion for music. As a professional live musician, his goal is to create the best possible music product - whether on stage or in the recording studio. As a music educator, James shares his knowledge and expertise to create a lifelong love of music - with a goal of also creating more compassionate people.
As Mayor, James hopes to increase communication and sharing of resources between arts organizations in the city. He also wants to collaborate with all levels of government to create the infrastructure (both physical and digital) for the net positive of the arts industry. He also has ambitious goals for LRT expansion, attracting technology and manufacturing and making Calgary a preeminent location for film and television in Canada.
